Alot of people want convenience and the closer the store is the more they will use it
In town , We have 3 Dollar generals , Dollar Tree , Family dollar and a local grocery in town. They have saturated our area with Dollar stores there are a few more Dollar Generals too around the county. Kroger delivers to our area from the next county if we can’t get something and don’t feel like driving.
I don’t mind dollar general , my son wishes they carried more baseball cards because they are always out.
There is one right down the street from my shop.. I go there probably every other week to grab something.
I like the convenience.
my fat butt doesn't need a dollar store across the street
They are all over the place here.
They, along with Family Dollar and Dollar Tree, seem to be sprouting up everywhere. Hadn’t been to a DG in years, but needed to pick something up in the Grand Lake area recently. Couldn’t really find much in there for less than $5 for anything. Since when are things more expensive at DG than Walmart?
The store brand foods (Clover Valley) they sell is some nasty stuff. I will buy 2 liter bottles of soda there since it seems to be .80 to a 1.00 cheaper then Wal Mart.
We have 5-6 of them in a 15 mile radius from my house.
My small town of around 1500 population has 2 dollar stores about a mile from each other
In the NJ town I was in 1 mile by 1 mile, samething.... 10 pizza shops, and each had its fans....... Buy the pizza from the wrong place with the wrong crowd.... you would hear about it..... From my house with in 100 yds there was 3. 2 shared a common wall in a small strip of stores.... yes, side by side......
Same thing here. They are everywhere, and I’m out in a rural area.
They are really booming in small towns and communities. In these current times with a poor economy they fill a vital need to some areas.
People like to penny shop at DG on Tuesdays. I've gotten toasters and coffee pots for $0.01 on penny days!
We have a few in our area. They are handy when you just need a couple of things and don’t want to do deal with the congestion and self-checkouts of Walmart. I know there’s one near the condo that we vacation at in Alabama that is super busy all the time. It’s the only store in the area.
:confused2: I've never been in one
You saw what happened with Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, not long ago there was one on every corner it seemed. Now there seems to be more closed ones than open. DG will probably go the same route when they have too many stores, lots of empty buildings that can't be rented out.
