No.. ha ha it's not very proper I don't guess... Now I'm thinking that the transducer being too deep in the water is affecting my images. Anyways I guess I need to quit blaming the unit for now.... The rod is actually very stable, I think the problem must lie with the depth. It's about 2 feet under water right now and that "fog" may be sonar signals coming back around from up top that aren't supposed to be there, because there shouldn't be any water there, I'm thinking now.... But they work right on trolling motors, so it should work on this pole too I would think. It doesn't spin unless I turn it.

I'll be down there next weekend on Lake Egypt next weekend. I just bough a new HDS 9 touch. Cant wait to try it out
-
bb45 what unit? It doesn't get much better than that.
-
Its a touch 12 and I'm still using the LSS1 box.
-
Do you have the 1 or 2 ducer connected to the box? have you tried the 2 ducer on the 1 box? I came across a few pics from last year where I had my 2 on 1 box and the images seems to scan further out....so in the future of this year/summer, I gonna do some playing/swapping around to see what I get....
-
Its all old school, box and ducer. I usually keep range in 40 to 60 feet and auto on contrast. I know lowrance wanted to compete with hummingbird on range but I think the LSS 1 has better definition on 800 kHz, so till it craps out I see no reason to change.

First screen shot on HDS 10 gen 2.....
My skimmer transducer is lower that I wanted it to be. (it is right of the LSS-2) Does anyone see that there is interference on the right because of it?
Thanks!

From experience and other installations shown here, the multiple lines is from the jackplate....the ss ducer it to far up and it creates an "echo" (so to speak) inside the jackplate. to correct it is to put a holeshot plate or lower the ss ducer some....and those lines showing up on the left side of the screen says you have it mounted on the starboard side of the boat.....

Fishin Couillon......
I am impressed to say the least! I didn't disclose where the LSS-2 was mounted, but yeah, it's a 10" Atlas.
I think I will lower it a bit more. Even where it's at, I am pleased.

second time out with my new HDS 12, this thing might get addicting, found this on my local lake. Any critique's on my views? seems like I have it set up pretty good, but I have a total of 5 hours of experience using this technology. Are the white spots you see on sidescan always fish? meaning does something a leaf or other small debris show up as white spots?

Just installed a couple of 12's recently with a lot of help from you guys here on the board, so it's time a post a few random shots for you guys to provide some recommendations on settings. Most of these pics are random and nothing that will "wow" anyone. Set-up is 2-12's with LSS2 on stern straight into graph (no box) and HDI on TM.http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...psccf7da9b.pnghttp://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...psc51da390.png//s1247.photobucket.com/user/rivitted/media/shot004_zpsfa7512f2.png.html]http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...psfa7512f2.png[/URL]http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...ps45744567.png

Here are a couple of pictures from this weekend. Please note that I just got my boat a few weeks ago and this is the first one with any electronics so any and all comments / advice is welcome. The only thing that I have played with so far are the colors for the backgrounds, overlays and setting up the frequencies (800 and High Chirp). These were also taken at the bow with the trolling motor transducer so the speed of the boat was SLOOOOOOW. Not yet sure how I feel about the picture clarity so I haven't messed with any of those settings.
Not sure what this first one is. I am assuming due to the yellow color matching the bottom, it would be the same hardness.

For this second one, I am assuming that these are bait fish around the rock on the bottom. What I don't know is what those vertical/diagonal strips are on my sonar. (Ignore the vertical blue stripe interference on the downscan, that is from the trolling motor).

Again, any and all comments and advice would be appreciated. I should note that this is from an Elite 7 HDI

I have three units on my boat: in dash, outside of console and on the front of the boat by the trolling motor.
all these Lowrance units are new to me as I have never used a fish finder before.
there are no instructions that came with these units!
Any thoughts on where I can find operational manuals on the two Hook 5’s and the Hook 7?
Any help would be appreciated! I feel STUPID!
thanks...Bobby

You can download them on Lowrance's website. Here is a link
