The software is the same for the HD & NON HD IIRC.
You need to go into your account & verify you have one of the latest S/W version.
v7.090 it was added for my 998c HDSI and the 898 & 998 are identical except a 7" vs 8" LCD.

OOps.. my bad - I missed the LIVE portion of the sentence!
:embarassed:
Thanks Camo.
Camo. I understand that I must use the software to create the maps, but once created, how do I get them to access on the 898c SI Non HD unit? I have a navionics card presently. Once I create the Maps on the Zero Lines card, will the unit recognize the new maps I create and then overlay them on the unit? I have an 788c HD DI unit on the bow. Can I move the card back and forth between the units. (I will probably, once familiar with the product, purchase a second Zero Line card for the Bow unit). Also, if I create SI overlays in the maps, will they show up on the 788 on he bow?
You have to change from Chart to AutoChart to get the data to display on the CORE Series Units.
Doug:
When you say Core Unit, you mean the Non HD units. I would assume there is a Chart Option in the Menus.

Ok, again, I would like to have clarification. There are Non ONix and ION Units, Core Units. But there are HD and NON HD Units. Onlly the HD Units show Autochart Compatability. I have an 898c SI Unit. It is not HD. IS Autocharts software compatible with my unit or not. I'm hearing Core and Non Core but I don't hear HD and NON HD for the "CORE" units. I don't want to make an investment in the software and find out I can't use it in my 898.
A unit that is NOT either an ONIX or ION is a core unit--all the models with numbers instead of letters including the new Helix 5 models.
The 898c SI Combo and 898c HD SI Combo are the same, just the backlighting is different.
HD has nothing to do with Auto Charts or whether a unit can read the processed maps done with Auto Charts software.
Auto Charts is a computer software that creates Lakemaster mapping from sonar logs you record with your unit.
Your unit reads Lakemaster mapping. The Helix 5 units with GPS can read the Auto Charts maps-- there is no HD in their model names.
When you put a Zero Line card in your unit that has your processed sonar logs from Auto Charts, you have to select that card in the Chart Select menu-that is what Doug stated.
AuotChart LIVE is natively installed on ONIX units - so it has nothing to do with AutoChart software which WILL work with an 898 or either flavor and installs on your PC.
I use AutoChart Pro on my 898C SI (non HD). Record your trip as shown in the manual and create your custom maps using the PC software.
thanks for the answers guys. I kept hearing core and hd and when you look at the software, it only shows compatability with the HD units. That is why I kept asking th question.
Another question is, if I get the Pro version and use the SI Overlay, can I view those overlays on my 788 ?
Doug and Camo, awesome thread. Autochart is not user-friendly, but with some help from this thread I worked through most of my problems. The Autochart is going to be tremendously helpful once I get to fishing instead of mapping!
Here is my set up: Onix 10si that I was using Autochart live on but I wanted bottom hardness which is critical for my lake as knowing the difference between soft and rock will make a difference so I bought Autochart Pro and did some mapping this weekend and saved it to my zeroline card. I've got some questions I'm hoping you guys or others can answer.
Once I save a map in Autochart Pro and name it (.acd file) and I make the map the next time I open the program is just shows my tracks again and I need to hit "create a map" again. Is this correct?
I did one big recording, but next time out it will be a new sonar recording so how do I add to the existing acd file? Do I do that through >File>Import/Convert?
If so, do I need to change the Import Settings to allow 200kHz and display track content? Neither are pre-clicked and is seems like I'd need to do that.
On my Onix I've set autochart live to my SD card as well as the sonar recordings. After I work on the data in Autochart Pro and save the map how do I know the Onix is using that SD card to read the previous data? I figured the best way to check was to get the Onix running and if I took zeroline card out of SD2 I figured I'd lose the Autochart map but I did not. Does this mean it's using the Autochart Live data, which is limited to 8 hours and why I want to make sure it's using the zeroline in SD2.
Is there anyway to show bottom hardness on the Onix once a map is made? Guessing no, but that would be nice if it did.
I live a on big lake (30 miles by 8 miles) and I've expanded the map size to 7,000 x 7,000. If I record outside of that red box is that treated as mapping a separate lake and if so any hints on how to do it?
Last, any tricks on the Bottom Hardness settings. I can't seem to see the difference in changing the gain and I've changed the min to 15 and max to 30 which looks better but I have no idea what I'm doing and how to optimize it.
Thank you in advance for the help. I'm hoping I'm not the only one with these questions. Mike
Re: statement on the Humminbird website's FAQ section:
"Your ONIX or ION Series product has enough memory to record up to 8 hours of data. These 8 hours are a free trail of the AutoChart Live feature. These files cannot be deleted once recorded. Once the 8 hours of data have been used, you must purchase a Zero Line Map card to continue recording additional lakes or areas of your lake."
Looks like some pre-use scheduling to use that "free trial" is needed since it is permanent.
How do you get the auto chart live to show the depth #'s on the created map.
You can not follow the contour with a terova without the depth lines marked.
Unless it's on the latest update there are no depth numbers assigned. You can follow the contour without them though.

Just ran into an issue. This did not happen last time I was out, but I did upgrade the onix to 2.3 and reset to factory defaults. The problem is my 2D sonar is fine when running Autochart live but the minute I turn on record sonar I lose the bottom and it's very distorted. Not sure what happened as last week it worked fine. When I turn off sonar recording it goes back to normal. Again the only changes from when it worked until now is I upgraded to 2.3 and reset to factory defaults. Any thoughts on how to solve this?
I did a few Autochart Live tracks yesterday, no issues and all went well with 2.300. This is overlayed on Navionics Sonar Charts:

My Autochart Live also works fine, it's when I turn on the Sonar Recording that the 2d freaks out almost like there is interference when I turn it on. It's the only unit in the boat
