Nitro Z series started in 2007.
Just recently bought a new to me 2008 Z9. Previously had 2 glass boats and they had their own issues. I love the Z9, but do have to agree with others. Nitro makes great boats, but I do notice quality issues on my Z9. Regardless, the issues aren't big ones and are easily fixed. I fish out of friends Rangers, Triton and Skeeters and they all ride differently. I enjoy my Nitro and don't have a problem with it. It's a dry ride, goes fast, fishes great and can fit a whole offensive line on the front deck! What more can a person ask for?
Great, now where am I supposed to get my decoder ring. It'll probably cost a big ol bag of cash too.Quote:
Well maybe everyone that 'wants to be your friend' just needs to put a ranger sticker on their (insert the name of your boat here), and wear their Ranger jersey, hat, and secret decoder wrist watch.
Maybe I can get an aftermarket knock off.
Isn't THAT the truth!
OTOH, they were asking DARNED NEAR what the original fellow paid for mine, when it was 5 years old back in January. Of course I didn't pay that, but I reckon it was within 20% or less of what the original price was.
I seriously doubt any bass boat is going to bring any better ROI overall. Funny though... just using the term "ROI" in this sense is comical when you think about it.
Now had I outfitted a new Z21 with the same options (like I put new HDS9 Gen 3's with 3DSS and TS on it immediately) then the new one would have run TWICE (and then some) of what I paid! Options, dealer prep, tax and all fees it'd easily be mid~high 60's.
Not about to pay twice as much for one extra axle of brakes and nicer seats.
As for now, she's been weathering Hurricane Irma sitting in Lake Harwell since Sunday afternoon. Had the good sense to turn it around in the boat dock to face the waves late Sunday night. Couldn't get it out because of the storm, AND the lake being down 7½ feet. Trees down everywhere, dock next door has washed away. The ol' Nitro is sitting tight and pretty down there. Surely to GOD this thing will move out tomorrow and we can FINALLY get in some fishing on this trip.
OK so I got my decoder ring(the real one, no knock off, remember I'm rich and own a Ranger) and came to this conclusion all on my own. When I fish out my Ranger Z-20, with my friend who owns a nitro I have a good time. When I fish with my friend out of his Nitro Z-18, I have a good time.
So in conclusion it's not the boat or the manufacturer its the damn letter "Z".
Naaaaaa.... that can't work. Must be the "18". Anything shorter than a 20 or 21, (or "9" in my case) is just too small, too rough riding, and too easy on the bank account to make it work.
This weeks Sesame Street is brought to you by the letter "Z", and the number "18".
Can't speak to the masses on this one, but have heard nothing but horror stories about the service department at the Bass Pro Shops from me. I have multiple friends who bought brand new motors from them, and all have said they wouldn't do it again (they had problems with their motors and yes, I run a merc). Boat aside, that's enough to keep me away.
Give it up guys, Nitro is a price point boat.
Just like "Johnny Morris" and "XPS", the day it is more profitable to build them in China is the day it will
happen.
Quite obviously, Johnny has evolved many times over since his days of selling out of his dad's store.(its all about the $$$)
He is the Walmart of fishing and hunting, but his days are numbered IMO, kinda like Amazon is killings brick and mortar stores across America.
His boat brands will survive longer than his stores, but their day will come as well.
Many of you won't have the attention span to watch the following :

And it keeps going....
My son picked up a 2 used 2016 Nitro Z21 this spring. Finally got a chance to fish with him this past weekend. I was very impressed with the fit and finish of it. I didn't notice any issues. He has a Merc 250 four stroke on it. It runs like a scalded dog! Fast hole shot and nice top end. I have an old 2000 Triton TR21 and I thought it was a smooth riding boat until I rode in his Nitro. Very smooth and dry ride! That front deck is HUGE. If I was to get a new boat I would give the Z21 some careful consideration. Plus I really loved that 4 stroke Merc, so damn quite!
Neil Cavuto is great., thanks for sharing. I remember when Woolworths was having a going out of business sale for 10 years.
My 2016 Nitro Z21 is great boat. To get something anywhere close to what I got in a Ranger, Legend, Skeeter etc. was going to cost me another $15-20K. I have fished in pretty much every popular brand of boat. None were $15-20K better than what I have. My boat runs great, rides great, fishes great and I have money left over for entry fees, tackle, fuel and BEER!
I've had 2- 2011 Nitros and 2 Basscats.. you get what you pay for..
