Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan
Here are some pics I took last night of some cribs and rock piles.

These are some rock piles I never knew were there.

This picture shows some suspended fish (white dots) off the rocks in deeper water.

This one I'm not sure if these are anchor drag marks or someones lower unit cutting up the bottom. I'm thinking anchor since it was 16ft deep.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (bass boss)
Great pics Eric. I hope you left me some nice Bass on the Beds there at Shearon Harris. A bunch of the Pitt County guys will be there all next week to sore mouth some of those nuclear fish. Just for fun, no tournament. BRS-TRITON-20.
P.S. I dont think my LSS-1 will be much help for Bed fishing.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (BRS-TRITON-20)
Great pics!! Can't wait to get mine on the water, as soon as the wind dies down.
There are rumors of submerged locomotives in a couple lakes in the area. Supposed to be leftover from the logging days Guess we'll find out this summer.
Please check my post about SS questions. Hope one of you know what's happening.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (phantomtoo)
Looks like many have different preferences in settings. Anyone want to share? Are you tweaking the contrast or letting the system auto control the unit?

The contrast is set manually.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (fishin couillon)
Thanks, Only had mine out on the water twice. Having diffculty getting lefts side to show anything. No blockage of the ducer so I believe I have a bad one or software problem.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (mpsergeantmajor)
Still trying to memorize the functions and fine tune the settings, but here was my first attempt at saving screenshots while I was at Lake Kerr (VA):
Pipeline through cove just below Clarksville:

Old railroad trestle in Grassy Creek:

I saw allot more interesting structure, but got too excited and forgot to press the button! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Big Johnson)
I have a deep V, an Islander 191. can you guys post how you have the transducer mounted if any of you have an aluminum?
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Big Johnson)
Big Johnson great shots. How about an intel analysis of the picks- anyone? The large items are for the most part easy to identify. Where I need the help are the smaller items and what would be fish. Looks like some fish aroung the trestle??? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (fishin couillon)
What causes all the haziness in your down scan pictures? My HDS 7 is doing this real bad when I get in 12ft of water and less.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Ranger)
Not sure. I noticed that this weekend on mine. The shallower the hazier it would get but then clear up when i was in deeper water.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (fishin couillon)
That is exactly what mine is doing, it use to be clear and you could see every thing perfect...some one please help.
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Ranger)
guys i took my hds7 out for its maiden voyage today and notices the same thing. i was hoping someone had an answer
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (reelfoothicks)
To clear stuff up on downscan just go down a little on your contrast for shallower water. The deeper the water you can go up on contrast. You can set contrast for downscan seperate from contrast for side scan. The warmer the water get causes it to get cluttered up a bit. I think it is zoo plankton and micro organisms along with debri. Warm water is less dense that cold water causing things to suspend in water colium. Cold water is very dense causing these things to stay on bottom. I am no expert but this is what I believe.
