Can you explain how they won't mean anything? How do you think the 12 teams will make it there. By losing?

I applaud the committee for removing toxic masculinity from college football by placing less value on a team’s overall record and using their feelings to determine who gets to play.
FSU, Washington, michigan
IMO opinion 4 should still been georgia
If thats the argument then Washington shouldnt be there either. In every other sport, literally every other sport, you play a season to get a record that gets you to the playoffs and then its a battle. Sometimes the best team on paper gets knocked out and bottom seeds win. Somehow in college football its whoever gets elected to be in the playoffs, which in turn means a team can lose one player and win every game and still be out but some teams can lose players and still get in. The "eye$$$$" test
I believe the players that are really hurting over these rankings (besides FS) is Georgia. 29 straight wins in a very competitive conference. 2NC's, get beat by 3 points and fall out the bottom of the rankings......c'mon.....Kirby even said the same after the Alabama battle. I'd venture to say Georgia is more than capable of beating everybody and anybody in the top 10 on any given day. It seems making the top 4 is a controversy nearly every year. The big bowls that follow are mostly diluted due to opt outs......consequently, the bragging rights are diminished and have far less meaning. Big time football is a full-time job.....earning a meaningful degree is secondary in most cases and very difficult to do.
I'll echo what Coach Norvell has said and add to it...there are 2 teams in the CFP that have shown that they can lose. FSU has not.
Stephen A. Smith on Florida State missing out on the CFP....."I bet you if Primetime Deion Sanders was that coach, they wouldn’t have gotten left out." And he's right...televi$ion revenue rule$ all
Somewhat off topic but so tired of hearing Finebaum’s and others argument that the committee didn’t want another TCU. That holds absolutely zero water. Had they been beat in semis, I get it. But they beat the team that had just beat the team UGA squeaked by. Would it have been ok had Michigan made it and got blown out. UGA was obviously a lot better and it snowballed(that can happen). Once again, they want to “Predict” what they think could happen! Let em play it out on the field! Which, BTW, FSU did
Yep. TCU beat Michigan so I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that they did not belong in the playoffs as they advanced. They deserved to be there and advanced and it got settled on the field where it should have been settled. FSU has not lost a game this season so I don't know why anyone would think they would lose going forward. Bama squeaked by Auburn which was lower ranked than Louisville and they had their starting QB. FSU won with a third stringer and their defense and run game did well. A month to get the backup back and practice and we don't know what the outcome would have been but FSU earned the right to play. Money just destroyed college football and ESPN and the committee were co-conspirators in the destruction.
Alabama squeaked bythe barn in the Iron Bowl... People seem to be forgetting about that. Historically one of the biggest games in all of college football... They discussion last year was which two loss team would get in at number 4... Ohio State, Alabama, or Tennessee would have been a better matchup for Georgia than TCU and the championship game and everybody knows that... Problem is they would have gotten Georgia in the semifinal and Ohio State almost pulled out a win in the semifinal so In actuality that was the de facto championship game in the semi-final because everybody knew whoever won that game was going to win a championship...
What we really need is a BCS type computer that analyzes the teams and spits out the field. It at least took out most of the human element.
