Well....You figured out how to post that PIC, so your not doing too bad .... Is that a Daisy BB Gun?
AWESOME Job CamoHunter. I'm also going to add these links to the First Post on this Thread. Mind if I share to AutoChart Group? I think I can make JPG Images of them or Share Links for sure. These are excellent documents :bows::beers::bows:
First Post in this thread has the links. I was thinking the AutoChart Group Free forum : Auto Chart User Group where it is only about AutoChart the Picture Files and including links may help over there since it's all AutoChart Information.
Looks Like CamoHunter has already posted on there. That saves alot of time! Thanks CamoHunter YOUR AWESOME!
No problem guys! You're very kind! Doug, a couple reasons why I'm using pdf files instead of posting a bunch of pictures is: 1.) If I need to make corrections or change something, I don't have to change a bunch of pictures. I can just edit the original pdf file, upload it, and change the link to the new file. 2.) It would take up MANY pages with pictures, versus a single pdf where it's all contained together. If someone wants, it is easy for them to download and print.
Awesome Work and full understand!
Had time to do a couple more last night.
AutoChart: How to Create a Custom Shoreline(Step-by-Step)
AutoChart: How to Delete Your Map and Start Over
I also posted the links on my original post of linked tutorials, post #169 here.
I'm also adding them to Post #1 on this thread. If you share them here CamoHunter I'll continue to add them to the original post to help those just beginning with AutoCharts.
AWESOME Work!
Camo, thanks for the great work :bows:
Would I be able to save data to a micro sd in my Helix 5 Si, save to the computer, then add to AutoChart at a later date? Needed to upgrade and this years budget would only allow room for a Helix.
Yes ..... The AutoChart is a program that runs on the PC. You can process the files from the unit at any time.....The only problem I see is that the Helix only has 1 card slot ..... If you have a mapping card, you will have trouble viewing the mapping and recording at the same time.
Thanks Doug and Camohunter
Went out on the weekend and got some time on the chart program and got a couple of areas recorded and transfered. Now I just have to figure outhow to post some pictures as I get more time in and better at mapping
Bill
You can take a screen capture of your computer screen Alt+PrtSc and then save as a JPG File and share the Screen capture here
Water Level
In the AutoChart Operations Guide it says “When you startyour mapping for the day, it is important to note if the water level is higheror lower than usual. For Example, if you know the lake is down 3 feet, you willenter the amount when you import the files to AutoChart PC.
So if I want to create a custom LakeMaster map for a portion of a lake and it takes a few yearsand several trips to create track or sonar logs, it sounds like it would bebest to determine a baseline or control elevation before I go out the firsttime, is this correct? And then every time I go out I should note whether the waterlevel is higher or lower than the control elevation.
If you are taking an elevation reading when you go out to doAutoChart tracks or sonar logs, how are you doing it? Are you estimating the elevationchange, using a GPS unit, or a phone app to get the current elevation? Whatwould be the best way to get a reading?
I’m assuming it is important to be pretty accurate when overtime you may have collected several tracks that may overlay on top of eachother when creating your custom LakeMaster map.
Thanks, Brian
Brian, it sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it. Yes, you'll want to establish a baseline elevation, and note whether it is higher or lower on each day your record depth data.
Many reservoirs have an online streamgage, where you can look up the daily lake level readings. Many lakes/ponds do not have this. Sometimes those will have a physical water level measurement that you can check.
For those bodies of water that do not have any of the above, find a flat area of the lake bottom where you can go to, and record the boat depth for most trips. Using a flat bottom area, you could note the depth each trip to the lake.
Thanks, I like the suggestion to find a flat area of the lake bottom. I will give it a try.
By the way CamoHunter, I still have not been able to get out to the pond to do some recordings to try to put in my custom shoreline, maybe this weekend.
Brian
No problem Brian. I 'created' a fake set of data points and imported that data just to see if things would work correctly with the custom shoreline we created. Here's an example of what it should sort of look like when you import depth data into your custom shoreline.
