Re: Hey Fellas (KyLegndHamr)
Wow kind of out of the way to go to get to I-26 you'll have to drive out to Asheville on I-40 then down 26 to 95 to Savannah. I'd go the 75/16 route if it was me and just try and time going through the ATL at a good time.
Re: Hey Fellas (ChampioNman)
Asheville isn't too far from Knoxville, maybe 2 hours, have to get to Knoxville either way. Wifey has never been to Spartanburg (or eaten at The Beacon) so I thought I may go that way. It's our anniversary and we're doing a week or so in Fl. I usually try to hit Atlanta around 2am. From Somerset to Macon to Brunswick or Somerset to Spartanburg to Brunswick it's roughly 10 hours either way, but I've never driven I-16.
Seems like it takes a week to get through Ga. any which way http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Re: Hey Fellas (KyLegndHamr)
just a word of advise of a person who used to drive for a living. I-16 at night is NOT a road you want to be on. you may only see 2 cars the whole length and most of the stations and towns close up at 6 pm, and besides that the cops make the towns budget from stopping speeders as the fines are hi as all get out. a scenic route is come to anderson and follow the savannah river down it is country, and nice and an easy drive with not a lot of cops. good country eats, nice scenery and a good time ask Billy as he comes up that way.
Re: Hey Fellas (KyLegndHamr)
KyLegndHamr,
I-16 is ok to drive at night, make sure you get gas a Macon. Drive the speed limit on I-16. I am a Sheriff's Deputy in Atlanta and have been pulled over several time in the County Car speeding on I-16. It is a long drive from Atlanta to Savannah and when it is time to get off I do drive fast. (Have to make the prison run in Savannah).
It's nice country, but not a lot of gas station, or places to stop.
There is a new Bass Pro Shop in Macon., You will see it on your right, just as you come into Macon.
Be Safe John
Re: Hey Fellas (transdep1)
besides no gas stations open, no food , and such the police is the other reason not to drive I-16 at night. a very lonely lonely road almost as bad as I -10 in the 60's or I-20 across texas on the north side past dallas/FT worth to abaline very very lonely and nothing out there except police looking for speeders.
Re: Hey Fellas (lkhartwl)
Herbert,
You didn't mention K'ville at first. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif . As stop at the Beacon and she'll be sleeping like a baby the rest of the trip. You still have to pick up 95 and head south to 16 and you have to go through Columbia too. It takes me about 5 hrs to go from Anderson to Savanah.

Thanks for y'alls advice. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif
I used to go to Atlanta once per quarter to the Apparel Mall to order next season's clothes for my wife's boutique. I was talking to a Police ossifer http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif about hitting a ramp from the left side and merging into multiple lanes of road rage (leaving downtown). He said he just closes his eyes and floors his cruiser http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
I saw the new BPS last Sept. coming home from Tampa but didn't stop.
Fred, I can taste those onion rings from the Beacon now, I'm slobberin'.

http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif I used to visit Chesnee when my ex-bil was a pastor there, he's originally from Fingerville. He could eat 3 times what I could, first time at The Beacon http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif I ate WAY too much, doublechilicheeburga aplenty http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif and he told me to save room for the Nanner Split http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif He could inhale a triple at Wendy's with a bowl of chili, large fries, and a large Coke before I could eat half of a double http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif My little lady can barely eat a single by herself. As large as the Beacon's serving are, I don't see how they make a profit!
