Motor will only start trimmed out of water?!?!?!?!?!
My friend has a 1990 XP200 on a 20' Storm. The problem he is having right now is that for some reason when he tries to start the boat for the first time each day it will only start after considerable cranking with the motor trimmed up and out of the water. After the first time it will start fine for the rest of the day as long as it has not been off for more than a few hours. He has taken it to several shops and they have not been able to find the problem. Any suggestions? Sorry for the lack of detailed info, he has no online access other than me so I am posting for him. Thanks in advance.

Power Pack and Stator replaced about a year ago. Could this be an issue with the fuel pump or fuel pressure? Thanks again for any help, he wants to fish T's out of his boat but wants it to be runnin right first.
