i do know this. depending on which side you mount it on trolling motor you have to change a setting in the head unit called flipped I believe. if you mount transducer on the starboard side you change the setting. if its mounted on the port side then you dont change it.
I did not need to update my unit, but everyone I personally know had to update before the unit would see the gls10, so make sure to check that before hitting the water. And the post above, I think it is said backwards there, port side no changes.
also I calibrated mine but didn't like it so I "uncallebrated" it. I will not mark waypoints on the garmin as it is only for livescope so not calibrated is fine for me. If you want to mark stuff you need it calibrated it is not hard, select calibrate, trolling motor off, spin two circles with the gas engine
I have already updated unit, thank everyone cant wait till i get to try it out
Since I am not marking way points I do not need the directional arrow on the screen/ my Hydrowave must be to close because it was not accurate at all. So no plus for me to display it
Calibrate puts a boat icon on the screen and shows where the livescope beam is pointed. I just look at the arrow on my trolling motor
Another similar feature I like when fishing isolated targets offshore is the view cone that also shows on the Chart with ethernet-linked units. On the Chart, the view cone actually shows the appropriate distance (forward range) of LiveScope coverage. I can make sure that I have the LiveScope view (range) over the exact area of interest. You can turn this cone on and off in the unit menu. If I remember correctly, it is called Panoptix Area.
