abu revo vs big florida BASS
hey, will the abu revo's hold up and reel in a florida largemouth over 5 kilo's,currently using the black max 6600w, which is a 4:7:1 ratio, but i like the looks of the revo, has 11 bearings, mine has 3, they have a new rod coming out to match,(vengance) for 89 dollars, can you believe that, reviews sound good, been paying to much for g. loomis, coud buy 4 rods for the price of 1 loomis, one good thing about my 6600's,it lLL crank in the big girls, will those revo's??? thanks boys

Re: abu revo vs big florida BASS (robin ray)
i put a revo on the Kistler rod i got from DTS, since then it has pulled a couple4+ out of the drilla... i plan to buy a couple more to put on my all stars
Re: abu revo vs big florida BASS (robin ray)
When you say thick grass, are you talking flipping/pitching? The Revo has good power for the gear ratio, but if you're talking about pulling an 11 lb bass (who uses kilos?) from thick grass I would think you are better off with a lower gear ratio "power reel". The lowest ratio I know of on the Revo is a 5.4:1.
I use my SX for lipless cranks and the biggest I've had on it so far was a 5-8. It handled it well. To this point I haven't found a low profile reel that has the power I want for punching really heavy grass. I use the "classic style" baitcaster with a 4.3:1 for heavy flipping and pitching. There isn't a lot of need to get the line in fast doing that type of fishing. I use a Johnny Morris Sig Series (ltd edition gold style) for my light grass flipping & pitching.
If you want a stronger rod try the Deep South Rods. They are much cheaper than a G Loomis and the strongest rod I've ever used. I picked a 3' (1 meter http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif ) gator fully out of the water with my 7'2" med/hvy version.
Re: abu revo vs big florida BASS (FloridaBassinNut)
florida bass nut is right on the rod, those things are ridiculous for the price... and as for the revo... i use 5 of the "s" model and have no problem moving fish up to 6lbs in open water and when flipping heavy cover... most (not all) of the revo line have industry leading drag (24#) if you have to crank it up.
my next flipping/pitching reel will be the ardent flip and pitch F500. it is a reel designed and created to pull big fish out of heavy cover. no finesse at all. it's like having a truck winch on your rod.
pair that f500 ardent with a deep south flipping stick (either the gitem stick, preston clark series, inshore series or deep south series) and you'll have the advantage every time you make a flip or pitch into the nasty stuff!
Re: abu revo vs big florida BASS (CFLCoangler)
I've got a few of the Revo STX reels and I haven't had a problem.

I want to try that reel out soooooo bad. Or the F700 Denny Brauer edition. If you get one before me I'm going to have to meet you at a lake down there to try it out sometime. I was hoping to have someone I know get one first because they aren't cheap.
Re: abu revo vs big florida BASS (FloridaBassinNut)
i dont REALLY have the money for it right now, but im going to buckle on next friday (payday) probably and just do it already... just start with the f500, then go from there.
