Next Year's FL BBC Schedule
Hey Guys Ed mentioned talking about next years schedule and where you would like to go. Give it some thought if you get a few minutes.
Some lakes produce better than others at certain times of the year. The popular locations require reservations several months in advance.
My first thoughts based on where I've been before are something like this.
Month Lake Accommodations
Jan Big O Rolan Martins
April Lake Marian Fred's Paradise Resort (it's not , but fishing is great)
July St Johns Crystal Cove Palatka Night Tournament 7PM to 12 PM
October Kissimmee River Ranch
I suggest a fixed date when possible like the 3rd or 4 th weekend of a month. Only problem is I've never found fishing in the day during the full moon to be as good as other moon phases.
Who has some ideas or suggestions ?
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (SkeeterZX)
Just a suggestion, in January and Feb. we get a lot of wind, do you really want to be on the Big O then???
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (FiveAlive)
pre spawn can make it worth it, that's what I was thinking and it warms up first down there.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (SkeeterZX)
1st, we need to remember the Florida Rally has to fit in there somewhere.
2nd, you will not find me on the river at night..........period.
As to the "spawn", that gets started in december on the "O". And didn't Roland's former place suffer a lot of damage in the hurricanes?? Is it up and running again??
I'd like to see Lake Santa Fe, in Melrose added. But, thats a favorite lake of mine.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (namgrunt)
I'm open to any place that has good fishing and some accommodations. I think Roland's is operational if not it will be by then or they'd be out of business.
The spawn is in stages and there will be fish in pre and post spawn for a few months.
I really like Johns lake for a night event, it not too big and doesn't get heavy traffic but if you don't live near by there are no accommodations on the lake just motels on hwy 50 where I'd be afraid to park my rig over night.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (SkeeterZX)
Hey Bernie, I'm with John on this one, I 'm not losing anther Lower Unit and ain't NO WAY I'll be on a River at night. How about Lake Kerr in Ocala, or Johns Lake....Both are clear water and great night locatings JMO.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (Short Gambler)
I'm open, but at least I got ya thinking.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (Short Gambler)
There are two things that give me the jitters on the river at night.
1st the BARGE that travels from Jax down the river
2. Some nitwit that in the bag in a larger than my boat out on the river thinking he can "handle it".
As to a lot of other places. I am open to most places, myself.
By the way Bernie, I will have the coffee ready when you get here this time!!
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (namgrunt)
How about the Winter Haven chain?
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (FiveAlive)
I like the looks of the chain but I'm not aware of the accommodations. I'm sure there is something in the area. But I don't know how safe or convenient it might be to park a boat and charge batteries.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (FiveAlive)
I love the idea of a night T, but I agree would rather be on a smaller lake than a river. Go from say 4 or 5 to 11 or 12 http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (Bill2e)
What about Istokpoga for a T?
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (BiggySmallmouth)
Forgot about it, great lake and good accommodations.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (SkeeterZX)
On Winter Haven there are several hotels in the area, some are better than others. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (SkeeterZX)
I like the Idea of Johns lake for a Nite T and also dont forget about Locloosa/Orange .. Rooms are not great http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif But I liked the Lake...We could also try East Lake Toho again http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (jaqfan)
I have fished at least a dozen night tournaments on East lake Toho. We would go to the catfish restaurant, then fish from 7pm till 7am. Do the weighin, then get breakfast and drive home to Middleburg.
And sleep for a day afterwards...... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
But that was a lot of years ago too http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (jaqfan)
I liked Lochloosa too! I didnt even mind the accomodations! Those little cabins served their purpose, and it's nice having the boat already in the water, right outside your door!
Night tx... I guess I'd be up for one.. I cant half see in the daytime though, so running on plane anywhere would be a lil spooky.. Definitley a smaller lake though..
Other Lakes I'd like to fish: (not in any particular order)
Big O, Kissimmee, Toho, Istokpoga, WinterHaven Chain, Johns, Lochloosa, Butler Chain, St.Johns river (Rt.44 --> northward), Holiday Park, Walk-in-Water..
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (namgrunt)
I don't think I could stay awake for a 7 to 7 any more http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif gotten too soft.
Access to the Butler chain makes it impossible to get an early start or fish late.
Walk in Water hasn't been the same recently. State shocking crews have not found any large fish. They believe too many are being removed by out of state fisherman.
Re: Next Year's FL BBC Schedule (Mickstix)
First of all let me commend y'all for thinking about the up coming year and how you would like to go about it. All things are possible and open to discussion. One thing we have to remember in discussing lakes is that we have members in the pan handle also. I would hope that we will have a good group of us to hold a discussion Friday evening after supper at HillCrest. I would suggest that everyone read the exsisting Club By-Laws here in the forum so that we start our discussions within the context of those by-laws.
See y'all Friday evening. I won't be coming into Hillcrest until Friday evening now that Iknow I won't have my boat back.
