Small motor question

I'm downsizing this year and don't have much experience with smaller motors. I found a 1996 2 stroke 15 REDS Evinrude for my 11.
What temp should the head be idling on ear muffs? Teltale stream looks good but the head feels hot. Are the tsats a higher temp than the v6?
Even after doing the water pump, I'm loosing cold water out the shift rod.

There were 3 rubber water tube bushings in the kit, and I used the one that looked the closest, should I try a tighter one? Thanks MartyD
