Anybody know of someone who works at BP in Decatur?

I know of someone who is interviewing for a position at the BP in Decatur,and was wondering if anyone on here worked there or knew of someone who works there. What product do they make at that BP? Is it pretty good place to work? Benefits? What are some of the cons working for them? Thank You.

Here are a couple of things to consider.......
BP has gotten much better in the last couple of years due to the accidents that have occurred under their watch at other places. From what I understand the people who work in Decatur love working there and there is alot of things that the plant does for the community.

Now BP is a British company which comes with its own issues around how they do raises and compensation since on the British system there is not a whole lot of history of bonuses for salaried folks. If your friend will be hourly then there should be a significant amount of overtime since they tend to run lean on people. Also note that if your friend is not the type of person to follow procedures and stop and think about things he might not what to work for them since everything has to be written down and safety assessed before you do anything.

One other thing but it might not matter. The major oil companies have been getting out of the chemicals business for the more lucrative upstream business so the Decatur facility may not stay in BP's portfolio forever. Not saying that they would be looking to sell it soon but chemicals is cyclical in nature depending on demand.

Many bad things have been reported about the company (some true, some not so true) but overall its not that bad, its still work afterall and it pays alot of the bills. Some great people work for the company and if you get in with them its better than alot of other places.

I have been working for Bp in Decatur for almost a year. So far I am pleased with how I have been treated. They have been as good as any other place I have ever worked and better than most other places. Hope this might help
