Ok, I'm ignorant. Where is Yates and how big is it?
Yates is also called the Middle Pond -- it is between martin dam and yates dam -- located near tallassee -- dont get it confused with lake tallassee that is below yates dam and thurlow -- the main boat ramp is near the yates dam -- there is a small dirt ramp on the other side i have seen it but never been there --
the info on the lake can found on the outdoor alabama site --
great small lake -- i love taking the wife and kids fishing there (going saturday afternoon) -- very little boat traffic --
I think it's about 8,000 acres.
this is coppied from outdoor alabama
Alabama Power Company built Yates Dam in 1928 to create a 1,980 acre reservoir
I live on Yates or what the locals call middle pond. It is a bout 6 miles long from Martin dam to Yates dam. Love fishing the lake, but fishes completly diffrent than martin. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

I wonder what lake I was thinking of.
Eddie if you get bored this weekend hanging up on sandbars, call my cell phone and I'll give you some good holes to fish. They'll be past Highland however.
update -- caught 3 small bream down near the ramp -- ran up to the grass islands late near dark -- and found the fun zone -- had a school of 1# hybrd stripes -- wife and kids could not make a cast with out hooking up that lasted about 45 minutes --
looking forward to going back and maybe getting on somethig little bigger --
