Re: Evinrude XP150 (big_o_tom)
This is a decent motor, especially for that price. All 2 stroke engines are pretty rough on fuel, especially when in upper R.P.M. range, but all things considered, I think this is pretty fair, if it's clean. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif

Re: Evinrude XP150 (big_o_tom)
Bought mine in 1985, has a fairly good engine. The only things went bad was the electronic in the past twenty-three years, no mechanical parts went bad. Well the magnets in the flywheel came loose and I had to re-glue them back in place and that was a piece of cake to do. As for being a gas hog, lawd, lawd, yes it is but, it is tolerable if you keep the rpm's down. Your compression is the same as mine. I think it will do the job for you.

What kind of boat are you pushing with that 150? Is it heavy?

My boat is a 2003, 19' center console Key West. The boat is 1600 lbs. and accordant to my owners manual my motor weighs 381 lbs. Now I am not sure if that includes the shipping crate or not, just what the spec. sheet says. To see more pictures of my boat, just click on the above link, or click on the link below to see the boat specs.

Thank you very kindly sir but, all compliments on the looks of that boat must go to my Peetie-pie, she is the one who keeps it clean.
She spoils me rotten.

My old boat is a 17 footer and I think it weighs less than 1000lbs.

That boat should be quick with the XP150. My old 1985 17' Manatee was around 1000 lbs. It would easily run 55-60 with a SST 14 1/4 X 21+ but, my Key West is quite a bit heavier and carries a larger load of fuel and equipment therefore, she is a lot slower at 44-48 and the 48 is on a good day unloaded and the fuel tank on empty with a 14 1/4 X 19. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
