I don't know if I got a lemon or if the folks in Flippin use heavier glass, the fastest I have run my new boat is 74, half tank of fuel with just me and a 15 mph tail wind, today with me and a buddy was 72. I have pretty much used every setting on the hydraulic plate, I am running a 250 pro xs with a 26 fury, very unhappy about the speed, hell my tank 21 X2 with the 300 would scare 80, anyone here running a new 21 HP ? If so what are your numbers.
I don't own one but test drove one yesterday. 1/4 tank of fuel and 2 people ran 75. By myself ran 78. This was with no gear. It was a flippin boat but a 2011. I was told by the guy the 2012 was actually supposed to be lighter than the 2011 I drove. How is yours in rough water. I'll be coming out of a 2008 20xhp. Just curious.

i had the same problem with my 2011. i was getting about 76 myself and dropping to 68-70 when adding a second person and losing all my lift. jj sent me a set of wedges for the motor and it really helped. i was just in florida and was running 75 with tons of tackle, full tanks and my partner( he is about 280) soo i was much happier. that was w a 26 fury. hope that helps

It is fine in rough water, just does not run like it should, I had a 2005 21X that would run 81.

What size motor is on this new boat of yours?

Ok found it. Maybe because your 21'X2 had a 300xs and your new one is a 21HP with a 250 Pro XS is the deal. Meaning the 300 is a racing motor on a 21 foot boat verses a Regular 250 on a 21 foot boat. I know the hull design is different but still you have to factor in the loss of 50 hp. I'd willing to bet if you put a 300 XS on the back of the new one, you'd go a whole lot faster than low 80's with the right setup. I can't tell what size JP you have. Also know that not all 26p fury's run the same out of the box. Have you had the prop worked yet?
I have a hydraulic plate, have not had the fury worked, have been told that not much room for improvement. As far as the 300xs, I would have got one if the warranty would be the same. This new boat should run better than what it is, may have to try different props, what are wedges ?
Wedges go between the engine and plate to give more lift. Most go from 1/2" at the big end down to 1/16 at the little end. They will improve the bow lift.
Do you recommend wedges, if so which brand ?
I would try a tempest. My 2011 21xs like the tempest better than the fury by about 3-4 mph hole shot is great with the fury on mine but the tempest holeshot is real good and I gain more on the top end with the tempest. My trophy even runs better than my fury did on this boat.
I have a worked 26 tempest and a worked 27 trophy, probably going to try both of them, 27 probably too much pitch.

I know you just got that beautiful new boat and I'm sure you've broken it in according to Mercury's guidelines but I bet you'll see some nice speed improvements once you put some more hours on it. Keep us updated on your speeds.

If your looking for top end.. I think your best bet will be the 27 trophy. I've tried lots of diffrent props but always found myself back at the trophys. I currently turn a worked 27 trophy on a tr20xhp with 250 proxs with no problems. The guy that I bought the boat had a 28 trophy on there!!
My TXP OT4 25, smokes the 26 Fury by 3 mph at 6,000 and runs right with the Bravo 1 XS 26. Just a thought.
I believe once the motor has a few more hours on it, it will loosen up a little and your top end will increase. I think it took like 5 hours on my last 250 Pro XS for it to get right.

How fast are you running with the trophy.
