Re: 20HP questions (SuzukiSS)
Thats just a triton characteristic. With seat time you will learn to drive it. Bump the steering wheel to the right a couple of times when it starts rocking. SEAT TIME!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Re: 20HP questions (Kight21X)
Though I have never had a triton with your engine, the thing about these tritons is setup as much as seat time. If set up properly it is a slight steering adjustment to keep it on the pad and running fast. I had a 04 20HP and found that a blue printed trophy plus was by far the best all around prop. YOU might try having a 4 blade Balanced and Blue printed and I would suggest at least 8 inches of setback on your jackplate. I would start at about 3 1/2" below pad on your height. Until I did these things it was a bear to drive. After, it was fast and smooth. I have had 3 triton and they are hard to set up. all of them took me nearly a whole summer to get lined out and three or four props. I hear this seat time stuff a lot, but 90% of it is setup, who wants to drive a boat they have to fight the whole time. Good luck
Re: 20HP questions (Wormgear)
It takes a lot of both to get it right ..One is just as important as the other and both are worthless if not in unison..Yoou should be able to set the boat up in about three runs if you know how to handle thhe chine and you choose the right prop.. I agree on the 4 blade.. Best all round performance but ever so slightly slower than the 3..

all about seat time you will get the feel shes a dream to drive once you got it
Re: 20HP questions (bpettus1)
Thanks for the input guys. What could happen if I hit the rev limiter at wot? This hull is obviously fast so why did Triton discontinue this model?
Re: 20HP questions (SuzukiSS)
I have this boat. It is all about seat time. The boat once you learn to drive will not be a hand full. Once you get it down you can drive with one hand. I like the 4 blade Trophy 27 but its a little sluggish out of the whole. I think a 27 tempest is the best all around prop maybe even a 26 tempest. The best speed will be with the 27 Trophy. I have seen 83 GPS with a 250 pro XS. I don't think you will see those speeds with that Suzuki. I am not putting down your motor. I would put a 25 or 26 Fury on it and lower the motor to learn to drive this boat. The REV limiter is there for a reason. It is designed so you wont blow her up when over spinning your prop. I have a hard time believing you can turn a 30 pitch prop to the Rev limiter. You may have a bad tach. If you were driving this boat @ 78 MPH and running 6100 RPM fully loaded you already know how to drive it...... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
