Lower Unit repair for Johnson Outboard?
Have a 1999 Johnson 225 H.O. and just blew a hole in the side of my lower unit yesterday. What is the price range am I looking at to get a new LU?
Anybody know of anyone that can repair it? I live in southern Va on the border of VA/NC, so NC and SC isn't too far for me to travel.
Thanks
Michael

Eddie the gearcaseman is who you need. He should pop in and be able help you out.

Thanks for your help. Its hard to find someone around here that works on Johnson outboards. Most are Mercs and Yamahas.

Mike, is that what they call Procrastination? I've got 2 new H.O. housings left and that will end my inventory of H.O.s http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif

I have the exact same motor. 2 years ago my lower unit exploded and I had the case and all the gears changed. Including labor was $3,900.00
I pray to GOD that Eddie the Gearcaseman is much more reasonable........just in case of future problems.
Good luck........from what I've heard on this board.....I found out about Eddie too late..........

you guys may want to check with some of the missouri dealers as we jet alot of motors and may have new take offs. they are usually cheaper than ordering one. we can ship them anywhere. i have a few right now for differant sizes and brands but have other dealers that are good friends that have them also.

It's your lucky day. I just happen to have a very new lower unit for an 01 225 HO. I blew the power head last weekend and dont think I'm gonna spend another penny on that motor. $7800 to replace the powerhead....
My original foot blew out about two years ago and has not been used very much since. Maybe 8 to 10 trips over two summers.
