I have 2004 200 pro xl with a 225 evinrude DI HO, motor is 2/14 under pad with a 26 raker ( old one ) 3 blade light load in boat with just me is 80 gps, my partner and I tourney load 76-77 gps. I have a 8" detwiller jackplate also.
I have a 2003 200 pro XL with a 225 Evinrude HO as well. I'm running a 28 ASX by Turbo. If you decide you need a good 26 or 28 Raker, give me a call. We've got both at the shop.
hows your top end and can you get on plane easy with that 28.

28 "old school" raker is what I ran on my '06 200pxl/225 HO. best I found, hole shot could have been better but still acceptable, top end was unreal, I would have loved to had an ASX.
....
What's an ASX?
ASX is a prop that Turbo made for the Stratos ASX back in the day. My holeshot could be a little better but it sure is fun going by em on the big end! I also ran the 28 Raker with good rersults, it just seemed the Turbo handled a little better for my liking. As for topend, motor's got a little age on it now, but i'm still running 76-77 tournament loaded with two people.
Raker prop for sure, 26pitch is a good start, see if someone will let you use one for a test run.
Do you think the raker II props are bad? Like everyone else...
Some of the old Rakers ran great but finding one that does is hard to do.

not bad, just not as goot as as the old school rakers, the II's have a little different blade geometry, and softer metal.
only negative on the original raker is the pressed in hub, heard some say they are unable to run it due to exhaust heat, leading to spun hubs, I ran one for years on a '06 225 HO never a problem.
if you find one, pvs holes and B&Bed will make a difference.
wish I had mine back, sold it when I got new 250 HO w/lightning case, could not turn it, now my 250 has the magnum case on it with the 1.85 gears woulkd love to have my old school 28 raker back now.
what is the gear ratio on that new evinrude? You may not be able to turn a 28 if you have one of the newer ratio's. The old 1.86:1 could handle it.....barely. I ran a 26 OLD style Raker on my rude.
the new M2's are 1.86 compaired to the lightning which is 1.71.
I think the new 2012 magnum gear case is 185. I had a 2008 200ho with the lightning case and it was 186. But my understanding is that the in 2012 the magnum come with a 185
