1992 Javelin 389 with 1994 150 Johnson
Just came back from the prop shop. The gentleman behind the counter said I should be running a 22 pitch and not a 24 Raker. The Raker prop I have needs a new hub and a little work. He said I should just purchase another prop. I'm hitting upper 50's to low 60's (empty) at 4900-5100 rpm's. He said I should be in the 5500 range and a 23 or a 4 blade will do the trick. In research I see many people running the 24p Raker and not many 22's.
Any help would be appreciated.

What is your prop shaft to pad measurement? You could be running too deep. What size jackplate do you have? I've had 2 389's and the 24 raker was the ticket on the one I had with a 150 evinrude.

Post some numbers as said above the 24 should be perfect if set up correctly.
I am running a 25 tempest plus on my 94 150 Intruder its perfect for my set up!

I think you need your tach checked. 5000 rpm with a 24 raker and 60 mph( if thats gps) shows 6% slip. Thats an awesome setup or a lazy tach.
I run a 23 trophy to 5500 and get 60 mph gps for reference, pretty much the same boat.
