Thinking of buying a stratos 176xt
I found a brand new 2010 Stratos 176xt at a local boat shop. It has a 50hp mercury on it and a 40 pound trust trolling motor seems like its a little under powered but I thik it would be good for me and my brother to fish some local small bass tournament's. Anyone have any experience with one? This will be my first true bass boat. Its between this or an a aluminum bass tracker what's everyone think. Trying to stay around $13,000 for brand new

Talk to BassinBrad, I think this is the same model he has, he can give you the full scoop on it.
Re: Thinking of buying a stratos 176xt (ThunderCat)
Don't get the Tracker. I have a 175 Tracker, and I've seen bassinbrads 176. The Stratos has much, much, much better fit and finish. The carpet is a thousand times better. Storage and all around room is better. If I had it to do over again I would buy either, I would've bought a used 18 footer with a 150 for the same or less money. But, between the two I definitely pick the Stratos. The full flake model, like bassinbrad has, are absolutely gorgeous too. I'm sure you'll pay more for that but I think it's worth it. Just google "full flake Stratos 176" and compare to the regular 176.

I think you should consider a good used Stratos 285 PRO XL with a 150 Optimax... as luck would have it, there is one listed in the "boats for sale"!!!

He has to make the choice as to whether he wants a warranty or not.
Whatever you do regarding the 176, max out the horsepower rating of the hull; you will be sorry in the long run if you don't.

Re: Thinking of buying a stratos 176xt (rmetzger812)
I've got a '07 and it's the best boat I've owned. Don't fish "big water" so I don't need a 20' with a 250 to be safe or fast. I've owned Rangers, Tritons, Skeeters and Basscats and they are all great boats but for the way I fish none fit me better than the little 176xt. It has all the storage capacity of the big rigs and the front deck is comparible to much larger boats. Mine has a 50hp Yamaha that gps'd at 33.1 mph. If speed's what you need this isn't the boat for you but if you're looking for space, fishability and a great price this type boat is the boat for you.
Hope you find one soon. You'll love it.
Re: Thinking of buying a stratos 176xt (Stratos 176xt)
I agree with Stratos 176Xt. I have owned several different brands of glass boats (Monark McFast, Nitro) and find that this boat fits my needs. I have an 07 with the 50hp Merc. I was worried at first, thinking the 50hp wouldn't be big enough. It moves the boat better than I thought it would. No a speed demon, but at my age (58), it is plenty. I like having the large front deck and storage. I still prefer the traditional rod box versus the center design in this boat. I bought it used in Feb. and the first thing I did was get a Hambys put on. I wouldn't get a glass boat without one. I am very happy with the boat. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
