201ProXL vibration as it crest on top
Long story short, '05 Stratos 201ProXL with brand new ETEC250HO (2011). Had this same problem before, thought was a prop issue, but now balanced and cleaned prop does the same.
As I'm climbing on pad ... just as it get on pad, there's a vibration that shakes the boat. I'm thinking it's due to the backwash from the prop ... would a bigger setback (I have a 6" now) help eliminate this?? Vibration goes away once on pad ...

Don't know if it will help the vibration, but some more setback will help your handling and speed. So it would be a good starting point. Just add 2" spacers.

My 294 did that when I ran a TXP prop. Triming up just as it broke over made the vibration go away. If I left it tucked after it got on plane it would have a vibration.

Chris, are you having any problem with prop slippage? Have you had a chance to check speed with gps yet. Just trying to get some information on how the m2 gear case is doing on the 2012's. Thanks Roger
Re: 201ProXL vibration as it crest on top (5littleones)
Are you using PVS plugs on your Tempest? My TXP will vibrate a little just before I get onto plane when I run it with two closed plugs and one large (open) plug. If you do something similar using 3 plugs of the same size (ex: 3 small plugs) might cure your vibration. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Re: 201ProXL vibration as it crest on top (SANTEE)
Santee ... my mistake, my motor was made in May 2011. So it's not a 2012 motor, but still have the M2 gear casing. With the worked 27p Tempest+, with a partner and heavy load (4-batteries, full livewells, 1/2 tank of gas and a tackle shop in the bow http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif), I am doing 72MPH. By myself, I'm running at >73MPH on the GPS by myself. But there is a lot of walking and I need to learn to drive through that. Rock solid stable with a partner! :) I'm right at sea level ... on the CA Delta! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
mittenbass ... two closed plugs w/ one small plug on my worked (added cup) 27p Tempest+. Previous to this I had 3 small plugs, but the prop would blow out as I cress over. Still had the vibration though with the 3 small plugs ... I'll play with 3 closed plugs next.
Re: 201ProXL vibration as it crest on top (201pro)
201pro ... hey that's my handle on another forum! :)
If I were to add 2" spacers, I may as well replace the JP ... it's just about as much work! ;) So ... question is if I were to replace it, would 8" or 10" (?) or a 12" is best?? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: 201ProXL vibration as it crest on top (5littleones)
8" is plenty and it only takes 15-20 minutes to add spacers. Figure an hour or better changing jack plates. 2 hours for hydro plates.
