white is the salt water version http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
That is funny http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif I am worried about resale later on. I am from Illinois so later on when I go to sell my boat. Most people from around here would think that it was an engine from a saltwater boat. If I get the white motor and have custom graphics added to match my boat colors (Black,White and Orange) I would think that it would look better than the blue motor.
Unless, you're planning on selling it soon then I wouldn't worry about resale as much as getting the color scheme I wanted. It should be easy enough to tell in a few years if it was indeed a saltwater motor!!
Sending you a pic of what I was thinking.

Gear case length. The white (offshore) has a longer gear case.

I just bought the white 150 HO to go with a white and silver boat and I was told that the white motor (Saltwater Version) had a few more stainless steel parts in it as well. For this reason it cost 100 dollars more than the blue. Hope the dealer was being truthful. UGH!!!! I probably got hosed!!!!!!!!! LOL

That's funny. The dealer did tell me that it was more $$$ but not until today.
The 150ho is not available in white
The blue std and white and 150ho all put out tha same hp. The high speed bullet gearcase on the ho and the graphics are the difference.
The white engine also has a stainless steering arm which , in most any case in fresh water is irrelevant. Get the color you want. You can get the stars and stripes decal for the white engine later from Evinrude.
Great choice!

I sure hope the HO is available in white because I just ordered one a week ago. The Evinrude E TEC brochure lists the 150 HO E TEC in white. Even has the picture of the motor. Has it been discontinued? Butter Boy, please provide more info.
Thanks,
Rogbu
I have been talking with a local dealer and they are available. Comes with the Stars and stripes also.
Maybe you should consider this one for a color??!!!! http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...g?t=1202529712 http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Man that is an ugly color!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!
The saltwater models do have more SS part in them and the HO models are available in both white and blue. They were originally only in blue and then white was later added.
Here is the pics of most of the 2008 E-Tecs avaiilable at the moment. There are more such as Commercials & Military versions also.

Can't seem to find any info on the commercial or military E-tecs on the evinrude site other than a news release....maybe these aren't really being marketed in the US?
I did the same bought the white motor to match the boat.

It's up to you really. I do understand about the resale worry. As of 2008, all Etecs have stainless parts inside of them to my knowledge and research. I have both motors. I could not get the 20" 150 HO in white (yes...you can get that) because of the transom height on the skiff. Most higher HP white Etec are 25" or bigger. But, 20" motors are available in the standard and HO versions. I did add the graphics to match my HO though. I have had three Etecs now since 2005. You will not be disappointed!

I have a 20" white 150 HO, so there is no doubt you can get them, as from 2008 models, that is.
It is marked with "Saltwater edition".
