recessed trolling motor tray 1998 Javeline 389DC
Has anyone installed a tray in one of these boats before? What is the deck material? I'm a little nervous about cutting it and it is in storage right now so I can't go looking under the deck for braces. Thought I would ask on here to see what collective knowledge may be out there. Thanks!

My boat is a 1997 400 TE and installing a recess is easy in these boats. No braces to cut through or no foam to dig out. We have a installation video on our website. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for the info! are there any hidden wires you know of? I plan a full inspection ahead of time but right now my friends and I are drawing straws for who is forced to run the jigsaw http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

Look for wires by taking off the bow intrument panel and feel under the deck for any. You also might be able to look towards the bow from your storage boxes. You deff won't regret it after you fish a couple times and don't have to stand on one leg. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I put one in my '94. Easy install. Just be sure to measure right to clear the front storage box.

Deck is fiberglass, not sure but could also be layered with 2 layers 3/4" ply at least my '94 stratos was. May come into center compartment a couple inches from the top.
Get a look under front console for wires running straight back, but I doubt there are any there, if so, you may have to splice extensions and run around tray if not enough slack tied up under there.
Pretty easy DIY job, you can see my install on the '94 on my install guide on website.
