Yesterday my fuel gage quit working proberly, put $100 of fuel in it in the mornig, made a 15 mile run across lake erie and when i arrived where i was fishing the gage read e, no leaks anywheres and i never ran out of fuel, anyone have a silimiar problem and repair, any help would be appreciated, figured i'd ask around before i get into the wiring.
I have a Javelin Renegade 20 and about the same thing happened to me. I had filled mine up and started t ogo fishing and the guage showed 1/4 tank. I thought someone had stolen my gas. I physically looked at the tank and could tell the tank was full. The sensor inside the tank was bad, had it replaced and it is fine now.
Those gauges are always off. The only real fix is to have a way to physically look at the tank or get a smartcraft gauge if you have a merc.
Question for you. Was the water reel rough and did you do a lot of bouncing? I have had my fuel gauge do the same thing, take a big bounce and then it will appear to hang up for a while. Sometimes it will clear up right away and other times it will take a day or so before it becomes unstuck.
The good news is that it always seem to correct itself in the long run.
waynec, i had same problem yesterday with my 21 ss extreme, my gauge was only reading a 1/4 tank while fishing tornament ??? took boat and went to other lake to fish some more and then gauge started reading just under full tank??? but my trim gauge also went on the blink???? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Yesterday there was a bit of a chop about a 8 knot wind, maybe something jarred loose or stuck, doing some momma dew chores today so ill have a look see tommorrow and report back how i made out.
