I have the same boat (Bought last April) and setup except as a Dual console. Have the motor checked at a dealer or service shop that can do the diagnostics. It will tell you how the engine has be ran RPM wise and any other sensor faults. There were not many problems with ANY of the Fichts 200HP and up.
99% of the problems were with the 150 and 175 motors.
There was one TB on the fuel system. I would bet this motor has had it done or it would NOT run at all.
My motor had 260 hrs on it and only 14% of that above 5000RPM. I get great performance out of my engine and pretty good fuel mileage for a 2 stroke outboard motor. I'm running a 4 blade 25P Trophy copy and get up to 68MPH GPS with just me half fuel and ALL my tackle (100+ Lbs). I have a 6" jackplate and Prop to Pad is 3.5"
Take the time to look over the boat and make sure all the pumps lights and such are working.
My boat was in great shape and all I had to do was add fuel and oil to go fishing. I paid $13,800 and don't regret it. The only graph that I kept was a 798CI and have added a 898CI. I'm very happy with it and if the motor last me two years I'll be happy and throw a new one on it.
Just look it over good and you'll be ok.

i have a '99 stratos 21ss extreme w/ evinrude ficht that i purchased about 6 months ago. i payed $7,500 for it and the motor only has 134 hours on it. seems like the price is very high, unless the 201 is that much better of a boat. just my thoughts
Re: stratos owners opinions wanted please (stratos31)
I would do as the guys said and have the motor check. I just traded a 21ss in and it had the 225 ficht and I never had any problems with it. I really like the 201 pro boat but im not sure about the price. I think after mine was traded in it sold for 14000 but thats just what I heard dont know if its true or not.
Re: stratos owners opinions wanted please (wv21ss)
I also purchased this exact boat a few years back....with the infamous 200hp ficht.......payed $12,000. Needless to say I didnt have the motor checked and that cost me big time. The motor blew my 3rd trip out and I was forced to repower with an older merc for $3500. After that major lesson learned the boat performed great....fast hull, a bit light but fast IMO.....high 60s with a manual plate and a 23 renegade. Boat required some degree of driver input even with the four blade so I imagine a 3 blade would get slippery but time behind the wheel will take care of that. overall I was happy with the boat and layout but some of the plastic pieces on the dash were easily broken and brittle.
