Prop Suggestion for a 2007 Stratos 176XT 60HP Mercury
My brother took out this stratos the other day and he claims its dragging ass. Took a look at the prop and it has some dents in it. It was a Aluminum prop. Do you guys have any suggestions for a good Stainless Steel Prop for a 2007 Mercury 60hp 4 stroke?
Also would it matter if I put another Aluminum one on? Any gains for this motor in using SS?
Thanks

Another question to add, I took it out and was only hitting about 27mph on the gps. I also noticed the RPM only going to about 4000 at full throttle. Is this another problem I should look at??
Thanks

How fast are you expecting it to go? Id bet thats about all you will get out of a fiberglass boat and a 60 HP Motor.

Your bet is incorrect as this boat can normally go about 35mph. Anyone else with a prop suggestion?

Who told you it would do 35 MPH?

Well, my 176xt has a Merc 50 and does 32 GPS with 2 adults and loaded for a day of fishing. I would think a 4 stroke 60 should get 35.

It can and does 35 as this used to get to 35, so it was from personal experience not someone "telling" me.
I was just wondering since my prop is bent, a good suggestion for a replacement. It was the stock prop so some of these new Aluminum ones look pretty good.
I ended up getting a Turning Point Hustler prop. I let you know how it goes in case someone has a similar question on this boat.
