1994 Stratos 284 Maiden Voyage
Rebuilt the fuel pump on the 150 intruder today and took my new to me Stratos on the water this evening. I can't say enough good things about this boat! Excellent whole shot with the 4 blade 23p renegade prop. Excellent water pressure...20-25 at WOT. After reading posts on here saying it should be a 60mph boat I was quite surprised to run 68 on the GPS w/ half tank of fuel and me in the boat. Handled great and the ride was smooth. Very glad I purchased this boat!

Re: 1994 Stratos 284 Maiden Voyage (stratos 284 dc)
No I never ran it before rebuilding the fuel pump. I bought it almost 3 weeks ago for 3500 and the last time the guy had it out he had to pump the primer to get back in. So I cleaned the carbs and tested the fuel pump which was not pumping last weekend. It has a lowrance GPS unit that is from the 90's. I didn't know if I believed it at first but I walked by a mid 80's ranger w/ a 150 merc on the way back in and he said he runs about 62. I'm going back out tonight as long as it doesn't rain with my buddies handheld GPS to verify. I will get rpm/speed through the range for you guys and take measurements and pictures with the motor height. It does not have a jackplate.

Well I got it back out this morning and took the tom tom with me. That Lowrance GPS was full of crap as I suspected http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif Tom Tom said it ran 57 while the lowrance said 68 1/2. Bummer. That was at 5900rpm. I'll look at the bright side...I didn't pay to much for the boat and it does run smooth so I should be happy w/ that. Just not as fast as my old skeeter.
Re: 1994 Stratos 284 Maiden Voyage (bassprokd)
The rpms are a bit on the high side. You should be able to jump up to a higher pitch prop and pick up some on the top end.
Re: 1994 Stratos 284 Maiden Voyage (fastman151)
What do you guys recommend if I wanted to switch to a 3 blade for better top end? I'm not real familiar with the raker/raker II props and available pitches.
