2009 201 Stratos Trailer Mishap
I have a tandem axle trailer with less than 2000 miles on it with original tires. I drove 3 hours to a tourney this weekend and 2 of the tires (one on each side) were wore almost to the thread. NOTE: All Tires had correct 50 PSI when I left home and looked new! The tire wear was not uniform on the 2 tires. I had put the spare on and purchase a new tire with mounting and balance. None of the tires on had wheel weights. The technician said the cause was tires of balance. We inspected the brakes/pads and all were good = not a brake issue. ANY IDEAS???

Check your tounge height when you're towing. I had a lifted truck, and even with an 8" drop tounge I was still too high. I wore the treads off 2 sets of tires in a couple of months.
The correct height should be on a label in the inside of the trailer next to the spare.
other than that, I'd have to guess axles.

Was this the first long trip you had with the trailer????
Re: 2009 201 Stratos Trailer Mishap (ALF1)
No, I have made a 6 hour trip before with it and a few 1 to 2 hour trips. I have done Interstate travel 70-80 mph without any issues.

Had a very similar problem with my dads lund. We literally had to stop and by new tires on the way to Canada because the new tires that were on it went bald in about 450 miles. It took three sets of tires to get there and back. It turned out to have a bent axle. He replaced it and it has been fine since. I don't know if this is your problem but just something to think about.

Bent axle gets my vote. Run over a curb or something?
Re: 2009 201 Stratos Trailer Mishap (Promaxxum)
Are both of the tires worn through on the outside edges? If so, has anyone recently jacked up the boat by placing the jack under the middle of the boat, centered on the axle?
Re: 2009 201 Stratos Trailer Mishap (Ohirolina)
I dont think the axles have had a jack on them. The 2 tires were wore more on the INSIDE and on separate axles = left front and right rear.
Re: 2009 201 Stratos Trailer Mishap (Promaxxum)
My vote goes to hitting a large pothole (like when the trailer drops off the side of the road while towing) or putting the axles in a real bind going over a curb or something. It can really mess things up under there (especially if done at any speed).

Could be...but Im 99% certain I havent ran over or hit anything. The 2 tires in question are the right rear on the back axle, and the the front tire on the left front axle. I have 50 psi in the tires.

Did the tires look alright when you got them home after they were balanced? I'm scared to even pull my trailer at this point lots of issues with the new trailers.. What kind of tires were on the trailer? I think mine say American something on the side.
