Locating Model and Serial Number - 1991 30HP Evinrude?

I was told the outboard was a 1991 30HP Evinrude, but I can't find a model or serial number? I have looked on the exterior, including around the bracket but no luck? Any ther place I should check, is it also under the cowling somewhere?

Right side, just forward of the cylinder head gasket on the block between the cylinders, there should be a plug with the serial number on it.

From the decals and the color, it could be an 89, 90 or 91 yr. model.

The external M/N - S/N tag is usually on the transom clamp brackets (port or stbd) or the swivel bracket.

Elgin has already been kind enough to provide you with the core plug info on the powerhead.

Thanks for the info. I will look again for the external tag but I couldn't find one. What I need is the SN for registration so I will take that off the plug.
