speedo quits working then water pressure gauge goes?
Today is Fri.(thank goodness) Wed. I went out was running WOT and glanced at my gauges and noticed the speedo was reading 45 and I know I was running atleast high 60's at the time. Since then speedo has not moved except to fall to 0mph if i remember correctly. Then yesterday i went out. not worrying about the speedo as it is not really that important and hoping it might just pan out. Well I had been out for about an hr or so and actually ran to 3 different spots on the way leaving the 3rd I noticed my water pressure gauge was bottomed out at zero and not moving. I immediately slowed down and checked to make sure the motor was spitting water as it was. But why have both gone out so closed together and both reading pressure from the water? Both lakes had some trash but nothing too big a deal. any input would be awesome. Thanks.

well, they both have rubber hose for the tubes and sun and age are really enemies of rubber.
I would say check the lines for leaks or replace them. I would also check your fuses and wireing to the gages, maybe something shook loose?
I have never had a speedo tube last more than a few years.

Neither gauge requires electrical power to operate , only for illumination . If you have access to a compressor you can use an air nozzle to glance air into the pitot and watch the speedo for movement . If it doesn't want to move much put a length of new line to the back of the gauge and do the same thing . If the gauge operates normally , change the line . If it don't , change the gauge . As far as your water pressure goes I'd put it on a set of muffs and run it , checking for leaks in the line . If you can't find any , take the hose you did the check for the speedo with and direct connect the gauge to the water outlet nipple and see what happens . If nothing happens , just for the hell of it , I'd pull the test line off the nipple and fire the mill and see if I had water flowing before I changed the gauge , just to remove all doubt . Did you by any chance pinch these lines in some way ?

Let me know how you make out , OK???

H20 Pressure gauge runs off the output of the H20 pump, the speedo is a pick up off the LU on the front leading edge. Shmegma may be involve as boatmech1 sez use a small compressor and blow out the lines. Disconnect the gauges and blow them out from the motor/boat side.

check the front of the lower unit and make sure there is nothging jammed in the speedo hole its about the size of a 4/0 hook eyelet, that can clog and you would never feel the boat hit anything. then blow the line with an air compressor but with just about 20 psi and have somene check your speedo when you do to see if it registers, check the motor pp'er too.
if something is in the speedo hole real tight you can drill it out but dont go more than about an inch.
