Stratos 186XT - Set-up help
I've got an 186XT with a 115 Yamaha 2 stroke. I currently have a Yamaha Alum 21 pitch prop on it and I am getting 50 MPH (GPS) @ 5900 RPM. I am looking to upgrade to a stainless prop with better performance. I realize I wont see much more top end, but am looking for a little more bow-lift and better all around performance, any suggestions? Also I can only get about 3/4 trim out of it before I lose "grip" with the prop and the RPM's jump way up. Am I missing anything by not getting that last 1/4 of trim and if so any way to fix it, would a jack-plate help? Love the boat overall great hole-shots and it is an awesome boat for the price ( thanks C&O) and for being my first, would like to stick with this for a while. Thanks

Re: Stratos 186XT - Set-up help (gimlet42)
Im running a 115 ETec and getting 55 GPS with the factory al 21p prop. Just put a viper 21p stainless on it and have not had the chance to run it yet. I am able to trim mine all the way out. Only had the boat about 3 weeks so im just trying to get it figured out as well.

\I bought the 186XT in April. I had it up to 54 MPH (GPS) on the Aluminum Prop. One person 280lb and 1/2 tank of gas nothing else. Once I loaded all my stuff on there to include a 280 lb fishing buddy I get 48-50 MPH out of her. This is my first boat, I'm totally happy with it. I also got mine at C&O. Speed isn't my thing besides know one ever caught a fish going 60 MPH. My friend John is pals with the C&O crew and they tell him, on a 115 HP a SS Prop isn't worth the extra money. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
