1991 Javelin 389T Speed and boat info questions
Hello,
I'm looking into buying a used 1991 Javelin 389T single console boat. The boat is in great shape, and I have fished out of it multiple times. I really love the way the boat is set up and the way it fishes. Personally I can't believe that this boat was manufactured so long ago. Either way, my main question is what kind of speed can I expect from this boat. This is not necessarily a stock boat: The set up to my knowledge includes
A 2006 Mercury Optimax 150. I am not sure what the size of the prop is, but it a Tempest. The boat also has a 6" Jackplate. I know that this boat runs very well, and I've been in it while the boat was running 5500 rpms, and I know it could run higher. I was curious what everyone thinks it could run? I know it is set up ideally as the current owner is a manager at a marine dealership, and spent some time with the boat. I am quite sure it is capable of mid 60's speed.
Thank you for your time,

Not sure about the black motors but mid 60's is what I am turning with an Evinrude 150 intruder 25 tempest on a 94 javelin but I am in dire need for some prop work. The early-mid 90's Javelins are some sweet boats IMO there was not another boat that will compare to them in those years, you will love it http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Great boat. You should be able to get low to mid 60's no problem. I got the smaller version and love it.

I have a 1992 389T 150 fastrike,(LOVE IT) no mods, 6in jack plate,24 raker, heavy load--2 guys, 4 batteries full live wells its slow to get out of hole but will run 58 gps on long run, with me (24 gallons) gas, is half tank full, live wells empty will run 62 gps, Prop work could get more but my shallow habits the rework would not last long....lol

I have a 1997 389TE w/ Johnson 150 FastStrike, 24 raker,6" jack plate. I am a big guy and with all my gear and half tank of gas, I GPS @ 62.1mph. I simply love this boat. It rides great in rough water, and fishes fantastic. You cannot go wrong if you decide to get it.

Thank you everyone for your answers, I really appreciate them. I definitely think that Javelin was way before their time when they produced this boat. Hopefully this boat can be mine.

Jav389 Thanks for your input. And thank you everyone else.
I have ridden in this boat, and to be honest, I love it. I currently have a 1985 Hydra Sport 15 footer, with a 90 horse Merc, I absolutely love my boat. My father has a 1991 Stratos 201 pro which he bought off the lot brand new. His Stratos is still my favorite boat I've ever been in. Period. It could have to do with growing up fishing out of the boat but it runs big water really well.
I am very much a fan of this Javelin. The owner has really taken good care of it and it has a lot of extras that add to the value for me. As I said he was a manager at a marine dealership so I know it has been cared for and serviced properly.
He is offering a really good price to me.
Hopefully I can join you all in becoming a Javelin owner.
Thanks for all of your help
