Re: My pad height (stratos284)
Yes you will gain RPM's and probably some speed. I would move it up until I was 3 1/2" below pad and see what my water pressure looked like. I would get that Evinrude up to where I could at least get 5500 RPM's out of her.
Re: My pad height (Stratos294HO)
I have about an 1 3/4 of travel left I just wasnt sure about moving it that much at one time. it does look like it used to be about an inch higher than it is now,I'll give it a try and see what it does. I've had this boat for about a year now and just decided to check the height because the rpms just seemed a little low to me
Re: My pad height (stratos284)
I would move it on up and see what she does. What brand is the 3 blade? That 4 blade prop probably is not helping any as far as the speed goes. I would think a 24 Raker would put you in the right direction. If that 3 blade is a 23 tempest it might be okay to as long as it has the right hub in it.
Re: My pad height (Stratos294HO)
I'm not sure what the 3 blade is but it is hubbed for it.
Re: My pad height (stratos284)
first and most important question is do youy have a water pressure gauge? and what is the pressure. if so you should watch it and never let the pressure go below 18 LBS at wide open that said you can probably move it up 1/2 " with no problem. second question is what hole is the notor mounted on the plate with? you can gain another inch by lifting the motor and reposition it on the plate.
