Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (89_Javelin_Money_Pit)
Yes, jacking it up higher will let it spin up faster and not lug your motor down when getting out of the hole...
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (201pro)
The other thing is a shooter is a great get out of the hole prop, but it is slightly smaller in diameter then the gade.
Raising the motor should help too. You are way to deep.
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (Lockjaw)
Rasing up should help a bunch. You might also try trimming your motor up a touch before take off. This will help lift the bow.
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (Neilslure)
My new jackplate will be installed this next weekend. Hopefully, as most of you have indicated, this should solve my problem. If not, then I might have to look at venting the Renegade to get the RPM's up.
Thanks for the input!!!!!
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (89_Javelin_Money_Pit)
If you don't have a weed ring then your exhaust gases are already going over the hub. If you were going to vent it you would need a ring and then have holes drilled in the barrel and that would be a job for Mr. Croxton to do.
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (ChampioNman)
You shouldn't need to vent a gade. Mine comes out good with or without it. You can trim it up some too on takeoff.
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (Lockjaw)
OK......got my jackplate installed over the weekend. Didn't get a chance to test it yet because of the wind and memorial day crowds. So, I will be testing Wednesday night.
I have the shaft height set at 4" below the pad. Is this a good starting point?? How will I know if I'm too high to begin with??
Re: Lost My Hole Shot!! (89_Javelin_Money_Pit)
You will lose water pressure, watch in turns especially, and it will have a harder time holding the nose of the boat up.
I would start at 3.5 inches below and move up. The gade should hold pretty good.
