That is the symptoms of a power pack going bad. the only way you will be able to verify it is to check for spark when it does not fire.

darn thing is never without spark when at dealers or such in driveway at home. thanks dan
Re: Help with Intruder problem. (mark482vs)
You might try letting it idle in the driveway until it comes up to temp then shut it off and let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes then see if it will restart if not then you can troubleshoot. Most of the time when they act that way they will run until you shut them off then they will not restart until they cool of completely. Hope this helps.

I had a problem with mine a few years ago. It would start and run fine when cold, but would lose spark to the plugs when it was warmed up. After it cooled, you would have spark again.
I simply checked for spark when it shut itself down and didn't have any. New pack solved the problem.

The power pack will show it's butt when it is under back pressure, it will fire fine on muffs but not under H20 or load. That is why it is suggested to test them on a test wheel and a test tank. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

My 96 150 Intruder had all those issue's as well. For several months it had a mind of it's own, spark no spark get it running and warm it would be fine till one day after it came up the lake 15 miles running fine it just shut off, only to restart and never go above 1100 rpm in gear. Neutral and muffs it of course would be fine.
In my head I knew it was a powerpack after reading all the other reports. It indeed was the pack but I also needed the optical pickup and timer base
Good luck and go BRP!!
