Would have to be spinning. Things we can do with open face that we cannot do with level wind, but give me stout braid (which a decent sized spinning reel can handle) and I can do almost everything with spinning that can be done with bait casting. One reel? Probably a 3000 size spinning reel: any decent one.

When I worked at a sports store, we would hang one of the Zebco underpins from the ceiling, and it would drop slowly on its drag to the floor. it was was rather cool.

Curado 201 Green. However a very close 2nd is the Dawia Tatula CT the only reason the Curado won out was more line capacity

I have a older shimano sahara that I just love.
The new ones just don't have the same feel. I'd pick that one.
