Re: took the boat out today (jefffrazier)
Sounds like you are almost there. Glad you are working things out. You do not want your tail any higher than the motor.
Re: took the boat out today (DR Stratos)
Good job Jeff. Sounds like you've about got it. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Your rooster tail is about right. Just remember if it is too high you are losing forward thrust by just throwing water in the air. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: took the boat out today (1niceStratos)
Did you get a chance to run the other prop you have also?
Re: took the boat out today (1niceStratos)
no,I am going to run it today
Re: took the boat out today (jefffrazier)
put the txp prop on today..could only pull 5600 to 5700 rpms..a little higher tail(about a foot higher)..speed was 72.5..2 people full of gas...with 3 people I could get 70mph...what is causing me to not be able to get more rpm out of this prop..overall this prop handled much better..and what do I need to do about the rooster tail???if I trim down ,I could only get 5200 to 5300 rpms..just a little more help, and I will be there
Re: took the boat out today (jefffrazier)
Did you try raising the engine 1/4" more?
Re: took the boat out today (FishinIsHeaven)
just raised it 1/4"...before I was having a problem driving it...
Re: took the boat out today (jefffrazier)
I was thinking that would get your revs up a bit more as long as you still maintain good water pressure.

Re: took the boat out today (FishinIsHeaven)
The TXP will be a little faster with a lighter load.
Keep the water pressure above 12 on the 225 H.O. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: took the boat out today (1niceStratos)
Jason,my pressure is around 10 to 12 at 4000rpms...wot around 15..now what do I need to do about the rooster tail..it is about 1 to 2 feet above the motor..do I need to lower the motor a little...also I am going to send my Tempest off to be worked...what is the cost in doing that..and who do you think I should send it too???Jason you can E-mail me at ajfrazier@bellsouth.net
Re: took the boat out today (jefffrazier)
When you're throwing your rooster tail, take note of your speed and rpms. 'Tap' your trim down one time and see what happens. My bet is that your speed will pick up a few more tenths and your rooster tail will drop back down.
