Is there ever a time? - scenario and question - all gurus and non gurus plz resp

I have a stratos 201 pro xl dc strat w/225 etec ho. Me (195 lbs) and pops (250 lbs) went out on Toho. My father's friend (prob 300 lbs) came with us also. Oh yea, me and my dad's regular tourney gear was in the boat and then his friends also. First thing in the morning, no problem, took off, got on plane fine topped out at about 67 or 68 mph, prob 5400 rpm's. I was very proud of the babygirl!! Later on with abit of water in one of the livewells, cause we didn't turn it off from the last trip, it took more effort but we still got up and going.

Later in the day, about 11ish, fish in the livewell, water on both sides, and it was windy as hell!!! I floor it, with the previous in mind, I figured it may take a lil more, into the wind and the whitecaps. We do not get on plane. I come back off of it. Floor it again into the wind do a 180 and finally we get up and going. Later in the day with no wind, we get up and going pretty well.

Is there ever a time when something like that should happen? Is it possible that there could be too much weight paired with too much wind where it can keep you off plane? Or could it be something wrong with my babygirl?

Answers, thoughts, suggestions??? Any and everything is welcome!!!

What prop are you turning? That's a lot of weight in her especially with the wells full. My 201Pro 225HO Etec jumps out of the hole good with myself (115lbs) and my father (200lbs), and full fuel. Once I fill the wells (not that I have to often http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif ) it is a bit more sluggish, but still well ahead of most other boats. I've got a 28 Raker2, and it could use a bit more ventilation on takeoff. My dealer has some prototype props in that we are going to run. Trying it on their demo boat, then if it works, we are going to try it on mine, since mine is already 2mph faster than their demo and I haven't even done any setup yet.

I had a tourney last month. I normally run 75 GPS with two guys and our BFL tourney load. This last tourney, the boat struggled to break over on hole shot. My top end only hit 72 GPS. I thought I needed to take this dang ETEC HO in for service. Turns out the dude brought a huge duffle bag (didn't really think anything about it at the time) and it was full of everything from lead to plastics to everything he could pack in it. When I helped him take it out of the boat, I almost hurt my back. It was like picking up a bale of wet hay. THAT is the reason my boat labored so much . . . .too much weight up forward in the middle of the boat!! BTW, I turn a 29 pitch TXP Turbo.

Just my .02 worth. AB and others are right on. 1st you have nealy 750 lbs of fisherman and another probably 75 lbs. of gear, ice, etc and if your wells were full of bass lets say just 15 lbs and the 35+ gallons of water in the wells at 8.5 lbs per gallon then you had a load. Plus 11ish on tohoe this time of the year means heat, muggy so if it was --- there is the answer. If you normally do this sort of thing I would look for a extra prop that was a pitch or 2 less for this type day. Normally rigs are setup for max performance with 2 folks with gear and such, in reality you were dragiing arond an extra 350 of weight, that will most every time have a significant impact on performance. Also where that extra weight was placed is also significant--- front is not always better for getting on plane. It was great that you got fish. good luck, play with some props, the is the best answer.
