1994 Stratos 284 W/ 1994 150 Evinrude Intruder
I have the above listed boat and motor with no jackplate and a 23 Renegede and a 25 Renegede. I am not sure the measurment for the motor but it is in the top hole on the transom. I can get 6100 rpms (too high??) with the 23 pitch and 5300 (too low??) with the 25 pitch. With either prop I am getting mid 50's tournament load and have touched just below 60 with nothing in it. Is this the top end I should expect from this boat?
Also, when I take a tight turn and have the motor anywhere but fully trimmed down, my rpm's will increase and I lose steering control. Is this because I have the motor jacked up too high or the prop??
Any help is appreciated.

I have the same boat but with a 6" manual jackplate(Renegade 23). I have had the motor as high as 3 3/4" below the Pad with prop slippage. 4 1/2 to 5" seems to work for me. Top end seems to be about the same no matter where I put the motor, just the RPM and slippage increase. I am right at 5500 and 60. Before the jackplate, the boat ran best in the third hole. I tried the top hole with no speed gain.
