Re: 01' Javelin renegade 20 (sen91)
first thing do you have a jackplate on it now or is the 5.5 hydro all you are gonna have?
and it seems to me like that 23 gade is a tad on the small side for a 200 venom
just looks like you will be turning to many RPS to me you really need to watch the RPM on that motor they dont like to go above 6k i can turn a 25 trophy to 6k with the motor jacked up i think you would be better with a 25p tempest plus or 25p trophy
my boat has 8" setback on it now and im still experimenting with props and motor hights to get it right
Re: 01' Javelin renegade 20 (javelin400)
I own a 99 Javelin Renegade 20 FS (Javelin 409) which is a little bit heavier than yours and it may be a bit deeper as well. I run a 200 Johnson Carb and a 25P Renegade Bass prop. It came with a 23P Renegade but the RPM's were too high in my opinion. I switched to the 25P gained a few MPH and dropped the RPM's down to Johnson specs. (5000-5400) I would agree with Luke that a 23P is too small. Try a 25P 4 blade.
As for the jackplate I don't have one yet but I was told that a 6-8" is about all you want to go. You could always post this on the Setup thread and Todd Morgan from C & O would be able to tell you more. He has vast experience with Javelin's and Stratos boats.
Oh and by the way where is Minnesota City? I am up just south of Alexandria on Lake Minnewaska.
Re: 01' Javelin renegade 20 (MNJAVELIN)
MN city is near Winona. I had it out this weekend for the first time and hit 73mph at about 5700 rpms which I am happy with. Chine walks pretty good at that speed.
When I put the jackplate on I think i'm going to a 25" 3 blade.
I've heard that jackplates if setup right can reduce the chine walking. Wondering if that was true.
Re: 01' Javelin renegade 20 (sen91)
I got a 99 R20 with the 200 Johny, its got a 25 renegade Bass on it, no JP, and it turns 5800 at 77 speedo, with just me and all my crap and a full tank..... I believe the 25 is the way to go for the 200's
Re: 01' Javelin renegade 20 (Travis)
Did you get frost bite running down the river at 73 mph last week?
Re: 01' Javelin renegade 20 (MNJAVELIN)
no it was 55 degrees so I was in a t shirt and sandles but the Johnson got toasted. First time I had it out and the oiler went out within 10 minutes and blew the 200 up. got the estimate today $6500.
