Thanks for the response on my earlier post...I forgot to mention that i have a "225" Johnson Venom-My next question is: How do i know if the shift linkage is at the correct height??..You know what i mean??..um what i'm trying to avoid is installing the spare "foot" and when i go to put in gear it wont engage until half way down...Gosh i hope you know what i'm talking about...If you do, how do i make sure the shift linkage is at the correct height.. is there some kinda tool??? or do i measure my shift linkage from the "foot" that i remove from my motor and make sure the shift linkage is the same height on the spare foot???????
I plan on installing the spare foot after work this week and want it to go as smooth as possible....thanks for your advice... and any other recommendations you can think of will save me some headaches.....thanks again.

You measure it from the bolt hole on the flande to the center of the hole. John can give ya a dem. but probably 19 15/16 or so. If you get it close , you can adjust it out with the linkage, if not, it has to come back down and screwed out or in. The best advise is to count the amount of turns it takes to un screw the shift shaft from the old one and put it back in the other the same way.....
