Skeeter Factory Tour-lots of pictures!
I had the pleasure of getting a Skeeter Factory Tour this past Tuesday and it was a fun experience. These tours are open to the public and are free. They offer them Monday thru Friday from 10:00AM till 2:00PM. Expect to spend about an hour minimum and they walk you through all phases of the boat building process. The Skeeter plant is located just off I-20 in Kilgore and I would call ahead to make a reservation. One thing that really stood out is how nice and friendly the people are that work there. I saw at least 80-100 employess and all I came in contact with treated me great. I also noticed how much them were seeming to have in building the boats and each one seemed to care about the quality they put out. I came away even more impressed than I already was about the brand. You always hear how the "big" boat companies do not build as quality a boat as the smaller ones but from what I saw I have no doubts the Skeeter folks care about what they build.
Right now they are putting out close to 40 boats per week with about 5 of those being bay boats and fish/ski models. The rest are bass models. The plant is climate controlled so they cam manipulate the curing process of the fiberglass and let me tell you it is a HUGE facility. As you can see from the pictures they had no qualms almost to the point of insisting I take pictures of some of their trademaerk type builds. Anyway here are the pictures. Enjoy.

Did you put your order in for a FX21 with a SHO while you were there? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif

Ditto what Mark says...I toured back in 2003. I was treated very well, met many people. The people who worked there are very nice and many of them have been working for Skeeter for a long, long time. My opinion based on what I saw is that it's a Big/Small company.

No, pretty happy with my 20i. That FX20 in the last few pics with the Lucky Craft wrap now belongs to a friend of mine. He bought it from KJ and they are taking the wrap off and giving it a once over before he picks it up.

Thanks Mark, I feel like I just spent an hour at the plant. The aluminum deck and supports and the rear tank placement is very smart! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
