well the hammer /hpdi is gone, so its either an SHO or a MERC.
i have sold several skeeters with the mercs, they run really good.
i sold a 20i , 2 years ago with a 250 pro xs,, once we got it set up and propped right it wuz a fast boat.
i have a few with the hpdi motors, a few with the pro xs motors and several on the way with the new SHO motor.
The HPDI is gone? I understood that the 150 HPDI and 175 HPDI were going to be around for a while?
Is Skeeter allowing there boats to be rigged with mercs now? I have a 1996 140ss with a Mariner 135hp I bought new and a few years later Yamaha bought the company. I never thought you would see another Merc on a Skeeter. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

The answer is FREEDOM of CHOICE, if you want a skeeter with a merc you should be able to get one! I have a SX200 with a mercery 200 and when people see it they look like they saw an alien or something, but it will out run the same setup with a yamaha i promise u! not talking crap about a yamaha either because i do like them so lets not start that
There was a real good deal on a zx250 with a Pro XS last year that took FOREVER for the guy to sell and it was a great price. I'll stick to the Yamaha.
A dealer here in SC will put you an Evinrude eTec on a BRAND NEW Skeeter if you so desire .... though most he sells have Yamaha's factory rigged.
The only problem with that is if you want to fish big TX's that have 'Reel Money' you are then not eligible.
Me personally, some color scheme's I like the Merc on, some I don't ..... same can be said for the Hammer and the eTec .... and I'm a John/Rude & Hammer guy http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
With that being said ........ seen an old Skeeter from the 80's/early 90's out on the lake Sunday ..... red w/ black stripe and a old square box Black Max on the back ..... that's how all the older Skeeters around here roll. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/glasses.gif
I owned a '95 Skeeter with a Merc 175XRI. It was a good combination back then.
I emailed Skeeter to ask if the warranty would stand on a non-yamaha powered Skeeter or if they would sale just the boat without motor. Havnt heard back in a week now. I love my little skeeter but I would like to upgrade to a 18-19 foot boat with more storage.
I agree the Mercs are faster than the hammers. My little 17ft ss140 with a Mariner 135hp ran just as fast as my buddies TZX190 with a 175hpdi. It is faster than a buddies sx190 with a hammer 150. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
