Re: 10 micron filter (jimcav)
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the filter was standard on the 2005 boats. Mine in my 2006 20-I is mounted on the transom. I think most of the Skeeter guys run the fuel valve on dual.
Re: 10 micron filter (jimcav)
On my TZX-190 I mounted a piece of 1.5" aluminum angle to the rim under the back hatch slightly off center. Bolted the filter bracket to this. Actually I mounted bracket to angle first and then bolted angle to rim.
I have my tank valve on dual.
Re: 10 micron filter (mikeky)
I have SX model and didn't have much room to mount so I had my BIL make me a bracket. Worked out pretty good.
Re: 10 micron filter (mikeky)
Mike,
how did you attach the aluminum angle to the rim? Did you drill holes and bolt thru it? Do you by chance have a picture of it
Re: 10 micron filter (tmcdet)
Yes, drilled holes vertically, attached with 1/4" bolts. No camera for pics.
You can get the aluminum angle at Home Depot in hardware section.
Re: 10 micron filter (mikeky)
In my ZX250 the water seperator is in about the hardest to get to spot they could have put it. In about the center of the transom all the way at the back, its a pain in the keester to change.
Re: 10 micron filter (mikeky)
Thanks Mike, have been thinking on where to put the filter for several weeks now and the lip was one place I was thinking. How long have you had yours on the lip? I assume it is holding up well there. Am also contemplating glueing a pc of wood (plastic kind) to the transom or one of the supports and attaching the filter to that.
Re: 10 micron filter (jimcav)
I know my '05 TZX 190 didn't come with a filter.
I mounted mine to the big aluminum plate that strengthens the transom ..... port side, up under the deck/ rear transom area lip. Had to disconnect the pumpout hoses and re-route them, but it made for a cleaner install than antwhere else I could have mounted it.
Good Luck !
Re: 10 micron filter (tmcdet)
Mounted it a few months ago, holding up fine.

This is how I did mine on my TZX190. I used a Racor filter. They make the ones for Yamaha and they are cheaper. You can find them at http://www.boatfix.com

Re: 10 micron filter (jimcav)
On my 06 ZX-190, you about have to stand on your head in the transom area to see the filter

Thats pretty much how mines mounted in my '05 ZX225, it didnt come from the factory like that either.
Re: 10 micron filter (Skeeter Jay)
Exactly the same spot on mine... with 4 batteries there's nowhere else it really fits that's still easy to access.. I'm not sure which year they became standard but it wasn't 05 as mine didn't have one until i added it.
Re: 10 micron filter (SkeeterJohn)
06 mine has one that came from the factory that way. I asked the dealer to install one after reading about it in a magazine, they said it already had one.
