Help!!! My trim gauge is "jacked up".
Guys, my trim gauge is not working properly. It is showing that it is only trimmed 1/2 of the way down when the motor is actually all the way down. I haven't gotten into the owner's manuals yet but I don't recall seeing anything about this when reading them after I first got the boat last year. Does anyone have any suggestions before I get down to having to make the trip to Mt. Juliet?
Thanks,
Mike

Most likely the trim sending clip is broken.
Look under the motor and find the trim sending tab and check the ring for a break.
Replace with the metal one.

Let me know if you see the clip is broken, I will send you one, it's an easy fix. Call me if you want and I'll tell you what to look for. BTW I have your Skeeter non skid on my desk to send to you.

I'll have to look again. I'm not seeing anything that appears to be abnormal but....
Jason, hold off on shipping the pad until I figure out what's up with the trim. Maybe we can take care of 2 things in one pass.
I'll call you within the next few days.
Thanks,
Mike

Trim sender cam cracking is a common issue with the Yamahas. 2 dollar part and 5 minute fix.

I think I've taken care of it now. Toypuller thanks for the link. I missed it when you posted yesterday. The little nipple inside of the ring which mates into the (whatever you call it) shaft, actually had somewhat of a gash cut into it. It was allowing it to pivot around too much. I temporarily fixed it by gluing a thin piece of plastic on top of the stationary arm. Hopefully, this will hold up for a while.
You'd think Yamaha would have produced something a little more robust than a plastic ring on the first try.
Anyway, thanks for the help. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/glasses.gif
