Re: Jackplate questions? (kylkSkeeter)
I have a 6" plate, but I'm sure my set up would be differnt than yours
Re: Jackplate questions? (buckeye-basser)
well i got it put on today and tweeked on it for a while and finally got it right. the prop shaft is 3" below the pad. Without the jackplate she ran 70 gps. Today after the jackplate she ran 73. I think she has more i just don't want to fool with moving the motor up and down any more than i have to as i don't really know much about it. but very pleased with the performance of the boat with the jackplate added on. I LOVE MY SKEETER!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Jackplate questions? (kylkSkeeter)
Water preasure and rpm are key things in moving your motor up and down. Keep an eye on both and you'll have no wories.
Re: Jackplate questions? (buckeye-basser)
Here is a pic of one on the for sale pages. Did you install this same type of jackplate? I was pondering putting one on mine.

Re: Jackplate questions? (big_b16)
I'm not sure where the information came from about SX models not able to handle a jack plate but my uncle purchased a 2005 SX-200 witha 200 Yamaha and it came directly rigged from Skeeter with the jack plate on it. He runs about 72 top end, and in fact it's the same boat (Red/Black) as illustrated on this page).
Re: Jackplate questions? (misterbass21)
It's not that it can't handle it skeeter just doesn't put them on the SX models. That's why it voids the warrenty if you put one on. The dealer may have put it on and told your uncle that it came with it from the factory.
Re: Jackplate questions? (fishin couillon)
So does it hurt an SX? I was told the it would stress crack the transom because the transom wasn't built for the extra load.
Re: Jackplate questions? (airc1979)
I don't know some say yes and some say no. Never could get a direct answer. Some have them and never had a problem. Who knows.
Re: Jackplate questions? (fishin couillon)
the boat in that photo looks almost just like mine. same color scheme i just don't have an hpdi on mine. I wish i did. But i put a 10 inch jackplate on it and it rides much better than it did without it. a couple mph faster i run about 73 gps it was about 70. If my transom was going to crack it would have been this past weekend. I was fishing a tournament on ky lake and the wind was BLOWING!!! got into some big open water and the swells were about 4 foot. i love my skeeter. the only thing i would trade it for is a bullet and that is just because i want to go faster. lol
Re: Jackplate questions? (kylkSkeeter)
Did you have any problems with the steering cables or any hoses?
Re: Jackplate questions? (airc1979)
none at all. I have hydrolic stearing and the boat shop said i had plenty of hose. they said that the only time they usually have trouble in when somebody has the cable stearing.
