Help with leaking choke or primer
1992 Faststrike model J175GLENC , Ser # G03085016
I have had a hard time starting the motor when it is cold. I noticed a gas small and found that there is a gas leak around the primer. It is coming out from where the red lever meets the housing. The red lever is facing down. What do I need to repair this? Also is it a easy fix ? Were do I get the parts and part # if you have it?
Thank you for your help.

The beautiful parts chick will take care of your part's needs. Just tell her what you need and what it is for and she take care of the rest.

Sound like you need the cap and gasket. C&O2 can get you the parts. Check with the parts chick or chicklet !!
Ya beat me to that one Melvin!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Sounds like either the cap is cracked or the o-rings on the lever itself need replaced... Have you pulled the lever out and checked the o-rings??

Re: Help with leaking choke or primer (duckin)
Thanks for the info. It looks like to me that the red lever has a small crack in it close to the housing. Is this a hard item to replace or is it easy to do?
Re: Help with leaking choke or primer (duckin)
Very easy repair... You will need to go to your local BRP dealer and get a new cap with the tan gasket and you can pick up a new lever as well with the schraeder valve on it for fogging your motor... Should be about $20 or less for the fix... The lever pulls straight out of the cap and the cap is attached with 4 screws... Just be careful and do not over tighten the screws when installing the new cap.... Good Luck

Can the red lever be taken out and replaced without having to take the cap off? My cap and brown gasket look ok.
Re: Help with leaking choke or primer (duckin)
Actually you can but, not a smart move in my opinion . . . and for the amount of money you would save it is still not worth to do a half fast repair.
You have a "GASOLINE" leak which is dangerous.
If I was making the repair, I would remove the solenoid, replace the cap, gasket and new style red lever.
Just my opinion.

Ok so I ordered a new red lever, cap and gasket. Now my question is being a primer I am thinking that there is a spring under that cap, so are parts going to go flying when I take the cap off?
Re: Help with leaking choke or primer (duckin)
no parts will go flying... This is literally a 5 minute fix... Very easy as long as you can get to it... Good luck....
