Boat Wrap and Jack Plate, Skeeter SX 190

Hi All,

I own a Skeeter SX190, 200HPDI VMAX. I am thinking of pimping my ride out!!

I need some opinion's concerning a jack plate, still not sure on what would be the best size and if i should go hydraulic or manual for the sx190.

I was hoping there are some guys willing to post some pics of their Skeeter's boat wrap designs?? I am very keen to wrap my boat in vinyl, with some neat design?? Do you know where i can get hold of some high resolution skeeter decals to create the design?

You may want to contact Skeeter as I seem to remember that a jackplate may void the SX warranty. I'm not sure and maybe someone will be able to verify this on this thread.

it will, but it is still very worth it. don't make the mistake I did and not get the hydrolic, I find I want to adjust mine for the weather conditions and ride quality (high for smooth, low for rough) and I didn't think about that ahead of time. the plate alone was worth 4-5 mph and improved handling and reduced steering torque. 6-8 inch should be all you need. look in the jackplate forum at the bottom of the forum list, and find ya a good deal. then you'll be wantin a new prop!

I am not concerned on warranty, I reside in RSA and am very confident that nothing will go wrong with the boat, afterall, we talking about Skeeter here, strongest and safest. I also dont think i will be shipping my boat back to the states in a hurry if anything goes wrong with her.

I managed to get a 10inch hydraulic plate, that i have not installed as yet, i am concerned that a 10inch is too big. most people have recommended 4 to 6 inch. I am patiently waiting for a response from Skeeter as i mailed them concerning this.

Currently, i am spinnig a 23 pitch yamaha vmax prop at a speed of 109km @ 6100 rpm (this is with the motor bolted directly on the transon).
I really want to get this rig up to 115km, as i know it can get there. I am also quiet confident that i can spin a 25 pitch once i got the hydraulic plate on. Should be able to adjust the hight and get a nice ride as well.

I would think that performance wise you would be better off with the 10" plate. But my concern would be the strength of your transom. The bigger plate you get the more leverage it has and the more stress will be on the transom. The SX's done have the alluminum knuckle system like the ZX's and they just arent as strong. Personally I dont think a 6" plate with a 150 is that much of a problem, in fact I've put a 6" plate on mine, but I would be a little leary of a 10" plate with the added power of the 200. Thats just my opinion.

Oh BTW, what kind of steering do you have? dual cable or hydraulic? You may have to put new steering cables on if its cable, I know I barely had enough cable for my motor to set back for the 6" plate, if I would of went with a 10" I would of needed new cables.

If you end up getting that rig setup right I dont see why it shouldnt run in the 71-72mph range, heck I think the SX200 will run right at 70 with the 200 HPDI and its 260lbs heavier and longer.

Yeah,Skeeter Jay, i am also a little concerned about the 10inch plate. I got a hot foot package installed, with teleflex trim (blinker style) on stering wheel and a sea star hydraulic steering. It seems theis should be Ok to accomodate the plate.

So my only concern now would be the transom strength....????

The 10" JP will be just what it needs.
